Angel Reese Gets a Sweet Surprise From $3.21 Trillion Brand After Huge Career Milestone With Unrivaled

Angel Reese’s stock continues to rise across women’s basketball. The Chicago Sky forward made a name for herself in her rookie season in the WNBA by displaying her skills and tenacity. She has continued to do so in Miami as well while playing for Rose BC in Unrivaled, a 3-on-3 basketball league.

Reese was named the Defensive Player of the Year for the inaugural season and has now received a “great surprise” from one of the world’s most reputed brands.

Angel Reese Reveals Surprise Gift After Being Named Unrivaled DPOY

On Saturday, March 15, Unrivaled announced its end-of-season honors, and Rose BC’s Reese won DPOY. The league posted a picture of her with the announcement on X: “Unrivaled’s Defensive Player of the Year: The Angel Reese.”

Shortly after, Reese revealed a surprise gift from Apple on her Instagram story. The brand, which is worth $3.21 trillion per Forbes, had gifted the WNBA superstar an iPad Air, and she couldn’t help but show off her “great surprise” on her Instagram story.

“omg thank you @apple. Such a great surprise. Can’t wait to use my new iPad!” she wrote.

It’s worth noting that no public information at this point suggests that Apple is among the Resse’s sponsors. She has previously criticized the brand for “Apple Maps” issues, but being named the DPOY is big enough of an honor to earn appreciation from rivals as well.

Reese led the Unrivalled in rebounds with 12.1 per game while leading her team, Rose BC, with eight blocked shots.

“Reese was the anchor all season for the best scoring defense in Unrivaled, allowing 65.2 points per game,” a press release stated.

While she missed the first Team All-Unrivaled, she was named to the Second Team with fellow WNBA stars Skylar Diggins-Smith and Rhyne Howard.

Reese To Miss Rose’s Unrivaled Semifinal Due to Injury

As the last WNBA season heated up, Reese injured her left wrist, ending her rookie year. After surgery and rehabilitation, the Bayou Barbie again injured the same wrist in the second quarter of her regular-season finale last Monday.

After the game ended with a 74-46 victory over Vinyl BC, Rose BC head coach Nola Henry did not provide many details regarding the starlet’s injury, which made her leave the game in the third quarter.

“No update on Angel, but hopefully, we’ll have one soon. Sending her our best wishes,” Henry said.

Reese was evaluated over the week and will now miss the semifinal against the Laces on Sunday, March 16. The Rose (8-6) finished second in the league, while the Laces (7-7) finished third.
