Poole is about to wrap up the second year of a four-year contract worth $128 million, per Spotrac. The deal is set to keep him in Washington through the 2026-27 season. He will gradually get paid more and more with each passing year of his contract. The final year of his deal will pay him $34 million. The Warriors gave him this contract, but then they traded Poole for Chris Paul in 2023 before the extension kicked in.
That will give the Wizards plenty of time to consider their best option with Poole. He’s young enough that he could fit on a rebuilding team like the one he’s on, but now that he’s in his mid-20s, Washington must ask themselves if he should be part of their next playoff team or if he should be sold off for assets.
