‘He Made This Place Special’ – Draymond Green Shares Heartfelt Message for Steve Kerr as HC Makes Warriors History

Steve Kerr has been at the helm of the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty for over a decade, shaping the franchise into a modern powerhouse. And on March 15, he officially became the winningest coach in Golden State history.

After the game, Warriors forward Draymond Green couldn’t hold back his appreciation for the legendary head coach. He’s been with Kerr for every single one of those victories, after all.

Draymond Green Reflects on Steve Kerr’s Impact

The Warriors edged out the New York Knicks 97-94, securing Kerr’s 558th career win and pushing him past Alvin Attles (557) for the all-time franchise record.

Postgame, Green took a moment to reflect on Kerr’s influence — not just on the court but also on the culture of the franchise.

“It’s incredible,” Green said. “I’m thankful that I’ve been here for actually every single one of his wins. He’s a special guy. He’s made this place a special place.”

Green credited Kerr with pushing the Warriors to the next level when he arrived in 2014.

“He came in here and got us over the top,” Green continued. “We’ve been on that trajectory ever since. We’re lucky to have such a winner like that; guy’s got what, nine championships? We’re lucky to have him, and I’m grateful to be a part of it.”

Kerr’s arrival marked a turning point for Golden State. Under his leadership, the Warriors have captured four NBA titles and completely redefined modern basketball with their pace-and-space, 3-point-heavy approach. His ability to balance superstar talent, manage egos, and implement a free-flowing offense has been the backbone of the team’s success.

Warriors Stay Hot in Gritty Win Over Knicks

While Kerr’s milestone was the headline of the night, the Warriors had to grind for their seventh straight win. The Knicks pushed them, but once again, Stephen Curry stepped up.

Curry dropped 28 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and dished out five assists, and as always, the Warriors fed off his energy. Jimmy Butler added 11 points, seven assists, and six rebounds.

Karl-Anthony Towns kept the Knicks in striking distance, finishing with 29 points and 12 rebounds. He also hit a clutch 3-pointer with just over four minutes left, giving New York hope. But after fouling out, the momentum shifted back to Golden State.

The Warriors are on a rampage, winning 12 of their last 13 games and firmly placing themselves back in the playoff conversation.

Adding to the Warriors’ growing list of accolades is their coach. Kerr’s coaching career has been legendary. His ability to keep the team competitive despite roster changes and injuries speaks volumes. And with the way Golden State is rolling right now, he may not be done stacking up those wins anytime soon.
