The United Center is a sacred building in the land of basketball — the building in which the Chicago Bulls reside and the home of Michael Jordan during his years of dominance.
When you think of the United Center, you think of the classic moments that took place in that very building. There are so many moments from the Jordan-Scottie Pippen era that all took place in the United Center. The championships represent a legacy. The titles were building blocks for a dynasty. The banners hang in the rafters as a symbol of an era that defined prominence and success.
Disturbed’s Pyrotechnics Damage the Chicago Bulls Banners
Unfortunately for the Bulls, their banners took some minor damage recently at a Disturbed concert. The legendary heavy metal band is currently on tour, and their recent stop in Chicago led to some unfortunate circumstances.
The concert, which also featured performances from Three Days Grace and Sevendust, was a success but had some minor difficulties when the pyrotechnics display caused some damage to those famed Bulls championship banners, as Billboard reported.

As a result of this incident, the banners will no longer be on display during the remainder of the season but will return next year. Those banners mean something to the city of Chicago and the Bulls franchise, so the hope is that there are no setbacks in repairing the damages.
The Bulls’ Championship Banners and Their Significance
Chicago dominated the 1990s on the back of the legendary Jordan and his cohorts Pippen, Horace Grant, Toni Kukoč, Steve Kerr, B.J. Armstrong, Dennis Rodman, Luc Longley, Bill Cartwright, and many others throughout the decade of dominance.
The Bulls won six championships between 1991-1998, two three-peats with a gap during the 1994 and 1995 postseasons. Jordan, regarded by many as the greatest basketball player of all time, led the Bulls to this monumental feat, winning the NBA Finals MVP award in all six victories.
The Bulls’ run was documented on the controversial documentary “The Last Dance” in 2020, as it showcased the details behind the rise of the Bulls and what eventually led to the team splitting up. Jordan’s documentary was praised by some viewers, as it showed more in-depth footage of the legendary run, but discredited by others as a misrepresentation of history and the Bulls’ other stars.
With those six titles, the Bulls are consider one of the greatest dynasties in the history of the NBA and sports in general. The banners should be repaired in a short time, but the success of the Bulls will live on forever.
