New York Radio Host Stands Behind Yankees’ Rotation Amid Brian Cashman’s Dreadful Pitching Update

In the past, there have been New York Yankees fans who have been critical about general manager Brian Cashman. At the moment, there are plenty that want to see Cashman potentially make a trade for a starting pitcher.

Gerrit Cole and Luis Gil have both been sidelined by serious injuries, with Cole set to miss the entire 2025 season because of Tommy John surgery. With the rotation having taken quite a hit, will Cashman make an immediate trade or wait to make a move?

That’s the biggest question the Yankees’ fanbase is asking itself before the season even starts.

WFAN Radio Host Shows Support for New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman

Keith McPherson of WFAN in New York is one of the biggest Yankees fans out there. He is not giving up on the season despite some of the injury issues that New York already has. “The Yankees rotation last year stepped up, and they’re gonna step up again,” McPherson said.

Given his typically ardent support, it’s not a surprise that McPherson said this about the Yankees. For now, the projected starting rotation consists of Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, Clarke Schmidt, Marcus Stroman, and Will Warren. It is quite possible that maybe someone else will emerge this season.

However, if the starting rotation falters early, there will be pressure on Cashman to shore up the starting pitching. Regarding the possibility of making a trade, Cashman said: “We’ll just evaluate what’s available, and this time of year, very little is available. Normally, the more significant opportunities don’t exist until the Trade Deadline.

“When we’ve had these conversations many a time over, you hope you can withstand injuries and avoid injuries early from Spring Training up through the Draft, because going outside the organization is just that much more difficult to do. So we’ll rely on what we have, and we’ll explore what is limited available in the marketplace.”

There are already some interesting names that could be on the Yankees’ radar. Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins and Dylan Cease of the San Diego Padres are certainly two potential Yankees trade targets that could go a long way toward making up for Cole’s absence, and a multitude of other names could come to the forefront as the season unfolds.
