Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE television for almost two years now. After his grueling match with Cody Rhodes at Summerslam 2023, Lesnar has not been seen or heard from on WWE television, mainly due to the Vince McMahon allegations.
Despite that, his name still rings bells everywhere. Some have wondered if we’ll ever see Lesnar back in a WWE ring, especially considering some of the places his name has shown up since his last appearance.
While Lesnar’s future in professional wrestling is still uncertain, there is one wrestler who would like to see him return, just so they can battle one last time.
Bill Goldberg Wants One More Showdown With Lesnar
Bill Goldberg, a WCW legend and 2X WWE Universal Champion, took to X to send out a challenge to Lesnar, as he hinted at wanting one more match against the Beast Incarnate.
“It took 86 seconds to shock the world…. Let’s repeat the process one more time.”
The video, which shows the memorable match between Lesnar and Goldberg at Survivor Series 2016, made waves. Goldberg won that match in 86 seconds, which shocked the world at the time.
Goldberg’s last match on WWE TV came at Elimination Chamber 2022 when he lost to Roman Reigns, but he made it clear in November 2024 that he planned to have a retirement match in 2025.
WrestleMania 41 is only 5 weeks away at this point, so the time is ticking on a potential match for Goldberg at the big event.
Goldberg never stated a specific date for his retirement match, but the two biggest opportunities would be WrestleMania or SummerSlam.
The History Between Lesnar and Goldberg
Lesnar and Goldberg are no strangers to each other. Their stories are somewhat intertwined, especially their departures from WWE back in 2004.
Goldberg wrestled for one calendar year in the WWE, winning the World Heavyweight Championship in 2003, before departing after WrestleMania 20 for over 12 years. Who was his opponent at WrestleMania 20? Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar, who had been a headliner for WWE since August 2002, also departed the company following the WrestleMania 20 match, which was won by Goldberg. Upon Lesnar’s return in 2012 and Goldberg’s return in 2016, it was obvious they would meet at least once more in the ring to settle their score.
Following the 86-second match at Survivor Series 2016, the two would face off at WrestleMania 33 for the Universal Championship, a match that Lesnar won. It would be Lesnar’s first and only victory over Goldberg.
With Goldberg eyeing one last retirement match, could he be seeking one last shot at Lesnar to avenge that WrestleMania 33 loss? Would Lesnar accept the challenge? Time will tell.
