The Philadelphia Eagles traded safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson to the Houston Texans in a deal that involved left guard Kenyon Green, and no one seems happier about the move than Taylor Swift fans.
That’s right. Swifties are making their happiness about the trade known after the safety disrespected Swift leading up to Super Bowl 59, in which the Eagles pummelled the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22, the team on which Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce plays.

Swifties React to C.J. Gardner-Johnson Trade
Numerous fans took to X to let their feelings be known about Gardner-Johnson: “The Eagles probably traded CJ Gardner-Johnson partly because of the Taylor Swift thing. Let’s not lie here,” on user said.
“Didn’t know who CJGJ was until he showed his ass during the Super Bowl win and now he’s being traded to the Houston Texas karma is Tay’s boyfriend,” someone else said, equipped with multiple laughing face emojis and a reference to Swift’s lyrics.
Someone else opined that Jason Kelce, Travis’ brother and an Eagles legend, had something to do with the deal: “I think Kelce is behind it. I think the way CJ disrespected Travis & Taylor. Jason got in Howie’s ear. Something ain’t right about this.”
“Taylor Swift somehow worked her magic to get CJ Gardner-Johnson traded out of Philly after that parade shirt,” someone said, referring to the shirt Gardner-Johnson wore at the Super Bowl parade that had an NSFW message to Swift.

As PFSN’s Josh Weil mentioned, Gardner-Johnson took a dig at Travis in February, saying, “Should’ve stayed with that thick s***,” referring to his ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole.
MLFootball posted about it on Feb. 10, and a Community Note followed, reading: “Stating that Travis broke up with Kayla Nicole for Taylor Swift is factually incorrect as the pair ended in may 2022, an year before he started dating Taylor in September 2023. Also kayla had no effect on Travis winning Superbowl as he won 2 SB after the breakup.”
What the Trade Means for the Eagles
The Eagles brought in some talent in the secondary last year. That, coupled with Gardner-Johnson entering the second year of a three-year, $27 million deal, made him somewhat expendable.
In return, they got Green, who could potentially fill in at right guard in place of Mekhi Becton, who’s a free agent and likely outside the Eagles’ price range at this point.
As for the Swifties, sure, Gardner-Johnson is no longer on the Eagles, who won Super Bowl 59, but the Texans aren’t a bad team themselves.
