Kyle Busch, also known as NASCAR’s “Rowdy,” is a two-time Cup Series champion known for aggressive driving and fiery rivalries. But at the Phoenix Raceway, the $80 million Richard Childress Racing star showcased a different legacy: a devoted girl dad.
His wife, Samantha Busch, shared an Instagram snapshot of Kyle holding their 2-year-old daughter Lennix’s purse during pre-race prayers. The image offered a rare glimpse into the Busch family’s dynamics.
Kyle Busch’s Heartwarming Father-Daughter Moment at Phoenix Goes Viral
Kyle is shown smiling as he clutches Lennix’s tiny pink purse during the Shriners Children’s 500 pre-race prayers.
“Tell me you’re a girl dad without telling me you’re a girl dad,” she wrote, acknowledging their hard-won struggle to have children. Lennix, born through a surrogate in May 2022, is a mixed blessing to the couple, as she came into their life only after a 2020 failed round of IVF and a 2021 miscarriage.
Kyle’s performance spoke to everyone outside NASCAR. Folks enjoyed the contrast between his on-track bravado and his off-track introversion.
“Daddy, hold my purse so I can pray,” Lennix requested, and Kyle listened, like a good dad. For Samantha, it affirmed their shared resilience. Seeing him continually evolve both as a father and a driver fills her with respect, admiration, and pride.
The moment unfolded amid Kyle’s competitive resurgence. He finished eighth at Phoenix, his third straight top-10 this season, and expressed optimism:
“I would say that the step that we made from last year to this year was a really good step. Another major step like that, we can be a contender for racing for the win.”
Track Battles and Family Victories Build the Busch Legacy of Resilience
Kyle’s softer side contrasts with his son Brexton’s rising racing career. The 9-year-old recently won the Junior Sprint A-Main at the 2025 Tulsa Shootout, following a blueprint Kyle outlined: Legend cars at 10, CARS Tour at 12, and Trans Am TA2 by 14.
“He gets in his Bandolero car, and he knows what he’s got to do on pavement; he gets into his dirt car, and he knows what he’s got to do on dirt. So I really like that. We’ll probably stick with some of that mixture. And then by 16, he’ll be ready for some Trucks,” Kyle said, full of optimism.

Samantha’s advocacy amplifies their narrative. Her 2015 Bundle of Joy Fund supports families battling infertility, a cause rooted in their struggles.
“Ignore ’em, people being miserable and nasty aren’t worth my time,” she said during an Instagram Q&A, addressing online trolls.
The Phoenix snapshot wins hearts as Kyle prepares for Las Vegas’ Pennzoil 400. For a driver chasing wins, it’s a reminder: Legacy isn’t just about trophies. Sometimes, it’s a pink purse held with pride.
