NFL Insider Reveals the 2 Teams That Are ‘Definitely in the Mix’ for 5-Time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa

The Los Angeles Chargers have decided to move on from five-time Pro Bowler Joey Bosa. Bosa was a dominant force for the Chargers over his nine-year career, but injuries have taken a toll, and he hasn’t played a full season since 2021. Still, he should have a strong market in free agency and can be productive when on the field.

Teams in need of an elite edge presence will be lining up to sign Bosa on a reasonable deal. And according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, two teams have already emerged as serious contenders for his services.

    Joey Bosa’s Potential Suitors

Rapoport appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and revealed that two teams are in the mix for the perennial Pro Bowler.

“The 49ers and Dolphins are definitely in the mix for Joey Bosa. I’m sure the 49ers fans are going crazy right now about losing all of these guys. The really good teams can draft well and let players develop behind them,” said Rapoport.

Both teams could use reinforcements at edge rusher. The San Francisco 49ers are in the middle of a roster overhaul, while the Miami Dolphins are dealing with injury concerns at the position, making Bosa a strong fit for either franchise.

The 49ers are undergoing an identity shift, as many key players from their two recent Super Bowl runs have departed. Bosa’s brother, Nick Bosa, is already the star pass rusher for San Francisco, and adding Joey to the mix would create a dynamic tandem off the edge.

San Francisco has already moved on from Kyle Juszczyk, Deebo Samuel Sr., Charvarius Ward, and Talanoa Hufanga, all of whom have been released, traded, or signed elsewhere. To keep their defense strong, adding Bosa could be a crucial move.

The Dolphins, meanwhile, have a different need at edge rusher. Both Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb are coming off major injuries, leaving uncertainty about their ability to return to form. Signing Bosa would give Miami another impact rusher and take pressure off Phillips and Chubb as they recover.

Both Miami and San Francisco are in the mix for Bosa, and the deciding factor could come down to whether he wants to team up with his brother. Either way, his market appears to be centered on these two franchises.
