‘I Said What I Said’ – NHRA Team Owner Bob Tasca Doubles Down After Blasting FOX on Live TV

Bob Tasca, Funny Car driver and team owner unleashed a heated rant on FOX Sports during the NHRA broadcast. The 2025 NHRA season kicked off with chilly weather, track challenges, and unexpected rain delays — then Tasca added to the drama by blasting FOX Sports live on air.

Tasca called out FOX’s preseason ads, which claimed that IndyCar is “the fastest motorsport.” He said the claim disrespected NHRA drag racing fans and drivers.

FOX Sports aired a series of commercials promoting its coverage of the NTT IndyCar Series. In the ads, the network stated that IndyCar is the fastest form of motorsports in the country.

    Bob Tasca Blasts FOX Sports

FOX had a long partnership with NHRA, which started in 2016 and ended in 2021. Despite that history, Tasca didn’t hold back in defending drag racing.

After his run at Gainesville, Tasca said, “I said a few things getting out of the car, and I really mean it, and I want to say it to the fans. I’m very disappointed with FOX Sports. All winter, I got to hear ‘The fastest motorsport in the world,’ and I looked up, and I didn’t see the PPG Mustang, and I didn’t see (Austin) Prock’s car. I saw an IndyCar. And the fact is, we are the fastest motorsport in racing, and I think it’s an insult to the drivers and the fans. And truthfully, I didn’t think FOX was the fake news network.”

The FOX ads have sparked controversy, with many NHRA employees spotted wearing black T-shirts with the slogan “#NHRASpeedCheck” throughout the weekend.

Tasca doubled down on his comments on X, posting, “I said what I said.”

Tasca isn’t wrong. NHRA’s Top Fuel and Funny Car drivers regularly exceed 330 mph, while the fastest an IndyCar can reach is approximately 235 mph. Tasca and Austin Prock are the only Funny Car drivers in NHRA history to eclipse 341 mph.

Fox Continues to Face Backlash for Quality of Broadcasts

While Tasca has a very specific reason for complaining, NASCAR fans were also left furious after Fox’s recent coverage of the Ambetter Health 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway, with many calling it one of the worst broadcasts in recent memory. The network has been heavily criticized for excessive commercial breaks, missing crucial race moments, and technical difficulties that made it frustrating to watch.

One of the biggest complaints from fans was the overwhelming number of commercial breaks. Viewers felt they were watching more ads than actual racing, with key moments happening off-screen.

Many took to social media to vent their frustration, with one fan saying, “The amount of commercials on this @NASCARONFOX broadcast is absolutely absurd. Tell me what I have to pay to go commercial-free because this viewing experience is unbearable.”

Adding to the frustration, Fox repeatedly failed to capture important race-defining moments. Several crashes were either missed entirely or shown only through replays long after they happened.
