Blake Snell Makes Shocking Claims About San Francisco Giants Before Ex-Cy Young Winner’s $182M Dodgers Move

Blake Snell signed a five-year, $182 million deal this offseason with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 32-year-old left-hander pitched for the San Francisco Giants last season.

Snell thought he would return to San Francisco after the 2024 season, but those plans changed. The Giants decided to go in a different direction, which was one of the reasons Snell signed with the Dodgers. Things could get interesting if Snell faces San Francisco this season.

Blake Snell Reveals What Happened With the Giants

There’s always a story behind why players leave teams in free agency and why they choose new ones. Snell’s situation was no different when he left San Francisco for Los Angeles.

He told the San Francisco Chronicle that the Giants never even reached out to him during free agency.

“It was surprising… I thought they really liked me,” Snell said.

Snell also tried to contact Giants manager Bob Melvin during the offseason but never got a response.

“I texted Bob (Melvin) and he didn’t reply… so I kind of had a feeling,” Snell said.

If someone doesn’t respond, it’s usually a good indication they’re not interested.

Last season with San Francisco, Snell went 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA. In 20 starts, he pitched 104 innings, allowing 65 hits, 38 runs, and 44 walks while striking out 145. His WHIP was 1.04.

Snell spent just one season with San Francisco after pitching for the San Diego Padres from 2021-2023. He had hoped to stay with the Giants longer, but that didn’t happen.

Now, Snell will look to prove himself with the Dodgers and show the Giants they made a mistake by letting him go. The former Cy Young Award winner is expected to be one of the five starters in the Dodgers’ 2025 rotation.
