Titans Predicted To Trade Down From No. 1 Pick in 2025 NFL Draft, But Still Secure 32-TD QB of the Future

The Tennessee Titans’ 2024 NFL season was rough. Their 3-14 record landed them at the bottom of the standings and secured the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. With a new general manager in place and several major holes to fill, Tennessee is heading into a pivotal offseason that could shape the franchise for years to come.

Most teams in the Titans’ position wouldn’t hesitate to select a franchise quarterback with the top pick. However, reports suggest Tennessee may take a different approach—one that involves trading down to acquire additional assets. The best part? They could still land a promising quarterback, and PFSN’s latest mock draft predicts exactly that.

Titans Projected To Land QB of the Future Despite Trading Down

Tennessee has missed the playoffs in three straight seasons and finished last in the AFC South in the past two, making major changes necessary. Will Levis, the 33rd pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has struggled despite having weapons like Derrick Henry, DeAndre Hopkins, and Calvin Ridley at his disposal.

According to PFSN’s Ian Cummings in his March Mock Draft, the Titans could strike a deal with the New York Giants, moving down from No. 1 while still securing a young quarterback later in the draft. In his mock scenario, Tennessee would receive the No. 3 and No. 65 picks, plus a 2026 second-rounder from the Giants, and then select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart at No. 35.

“There’s talk that some teams view Jaxson Dart as a potential first-round passer. On tape, his processing still has room to improve, but his athleticism and toughness serve him well,” Cummings explained.

Dart is one of the most intriguing quarterbacks in this class, following Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, and his draft stock has risen significantly after a standout final season at Ole Miss. He set career highs across the board, including completion percentage (69.3%), passing yards (4,279), touchdowns (29), and QBR, while throwing just five interceptions.

Here’s what PFSN’s Reese Decker wrote in his scouting report:

“With 41 starts over four years, the 21-year-old is a seasoned prospect. Dart is a smooth operator and a gritty competitor with a little moxie. His dual-threat ability stretches defenses thin and keeps them honest in the RPO game, which is where he thrives.

“Dart can deliver an accurate ball with touch at all levels of the field. He’s not afraid to stand in the pocket and take a hit to deliver a throw or lower his shoulder in the open field for extra yards.

“That said, Dart is far from a perfect prospect. He needs to improve his deep-ball accuracy, arm strength, and mechanics, syncing his eyes, hips, and feet.

“I believe Dart has the physical ability to be a quality NFL quarterback—it shows on tape. However, the mental processing, decision-making, and communication required of an NFL signal-caller are things we haven’t fully seen from him yet.”

Since Dart may need a year or two to develop, the Titans could look to add a veteran quarterback in free agency to bridge the gap. Aaron Rodgers is among the names being floated as a potential mentor, someone who could help mold Dart into a long-term solution at the position.
