The Dallas Mavericks continue to suffer one misfortune after another. First, it was Anthony Davis, who was sidelined with an adductor strain in his team debut on Feb. 8. Then, in a massive blow to their playoff hopes, Kyrie Irving — the core of their offense, went down with a season-ending ACL injury during the clash against the Sacramento Kings on March 3.
Losing two of their best players was already devastating for the Mavs and their fans. Now, another troubling update has emerged — Jason Kidd and his squad will have to make do without Olivier-Maxence Prosper.
Injury Woes Continue For Mavs as Prosper Joins Irving and Davis on the Sidelines
Irving made his first public appearance since the devastating ACL injury during the clash against the Memphis Grizzlies on March 7. It was a relief for fans to see the star shooting guard on the road to recovery. Likewise, Anthony Davis has also been cleared for more on-court movements and will now be evaluated weekly to assess his progress.
But just when it seemed like things were slowly returning to normal, another setback has hit the Mavericks. According to ESPN analyst Shams Charania, Prosper, the 22-year-old rising power forward has suffered a serious wrist injury. He has been diagnosed with ligament damage and is expected to undergo surgery, which will sideline him for the rest of the season.

Prosper was ruled out of the Mavericks’ game against the Grizzlies after initially being diagnosed with a right wrist sprain. The injury has now turned out to be much more severe. He had been averaging 3.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per game, and his absence will be a blow to the Mavericks’ frontcourt, which is already struggling with a serious talent shortage.
Mavs Trouble Continues With a 122-111 loss Against Grizzlies
With Irving and Davis out, the Mavericks were already shorthanded. Now, losing Prosper further limits their options. The Mavericks’ injury woes were evident in their recent matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on March 7. With key players missing, the Mavs struggled to keep up, ultimately falling 122-111 at FedExForum in Memphis.
Despite solid performances from Brandon Williams (31 points) and Naji Marshall (29 points), the Mavericks lacked the firepower to overcome late-game charges by Ja Morant. He scored seven crucial points in the final 1:35 minutes, finishing with 31 points and helping the Grizzlies end their four-game losing streak.
Conversely, the Mavs have now lost their last four games, making their playoff push even more challenging. Jason Kidd will have to find ways to compensate for the Mavericks’ depleted roster, which, at the moment, seems like a daunting task.
