Former Pro Bowl QB Sends Bold Message To Chiefs, Urging Them To Go ‘ALL IN’ By Pursuing Trade for $72,000,000 Star WR

Wide receiver DK Metcalf recently requested a trade from the Seattle Seahawks and speculation began on where the two-time Pro-Bowler could end up. One report had a proposed trade by the New England Patriots, and many NFL Insiders consider the Los Angeles Chargers a likely landing spot.

One former Pro Bowl player recently threw his hat in the ring, saying that the Kansas City Chiefs should go “All In” for the six-year vet.

Robert Griffin III Says Kansas City Chiefs Should Trade for DK Metcalf

Metcalf has become one of the NFL’s premier receivers since entering the league as a 2nd-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He eclipsed 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons in 2022 and 2023 and would have in 2024 if not for missing two games with a grade 1 MCL sprain. He totaled 66 receptions, 992 yards, and five touchdowns a season ago and was on pace for a great season.

From Weeks 1-7, DK Metcalf ranked 3rd in the NFL with 568 receiving yards and had a 21.3% target rate. After returning from his knee injury, Metcalf ranked 33rd with 424 receiving yards and had a 17.9% target rate.

Metcalf is entering the final non-void year of his contract in 2025 so this could be a posturing move to get a new contract from Seattle. He has some leverage with what he has shown on the field, and the team recently released long-time receiver Tyler Lockett. However, the Seahawks have reportedly asked for a first and third-round pick for the receiver, so the team seems unwilling to move Metcalf right now.

He has 104 end zone targets since entering the league, 13 more than second-place Mike Evans over that stretch. His usage dipped last season, but Metcalf’s physical profile makes him a threat in scoring situations every time he steps onto the field. Former Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin III believes Metcalf should be on the move, and he thinks the Kansas City Chiefs should trade for him.

Griffin tweeted, “The Kansas City Chiefs should go ALL IN and trade for DK Metcalf.” This would be a huge addition for the Chiefs, who need receiver help after being much less explosive in 2024.

Kansas City lost Rashee Rice after only four games and tight end Travis Kelce ended up as the leading receiver with 97 catches and 823 yards. Rookie Xavier Worthy was next with 59 receptions for 638 yards and led the team with six receiving touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes failed to surpass 4,000 yards for the first time since his rookie season, so injecting a big-play receiver could be what gets Kansas City another Lombardi Trophy.

Metcalf will be a game changer for whatever team he plays for in 2025, but the large price tag from the Seahawks and his demand for a big contract could halt any trade talks before the get started.
