Saints Predicted To Select 6’6”, 19-TD Offensive Weapon in 1st Round of 2025 NFL Draft To Jumpstart Kellen Moore Era

The New Orleans Saints continued to follow the “Drew Brees Model,” even after Derek Carr became their starting quarterback, and the team came undone. They quickly fell apart last season after an explosive first two games.

As a result, Dennis Allen is no longer at the helm, and the team is hiring Kellen Moore as its new head coach. With a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they have a key decision to make, and Fox Sports believes they will try to add offensive weapons to the mix.

New Orleans Saints Predicted to Follow Las Vegas Raiders’ Example

Last season, the Las Vegas Raiders struggled to four wins, and most of the roster was unhappy with the result. However, the one overwhelming bright spot for them was rookie Brock Bowers.

Coming in with real pedigree from the University of Georgia, Bowers had one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory. Breaking the rookie receptions record, he tallied 112 catches for 1,194 yards and even recorded five touchdowns.

Greg Auman from Fox Sports believes that is the plan the Saints should follow as well.

“The Saints might be intrigued if they can have their pick of the offensive linemen in this class at No. 9, but having seen what Brock Bowers did for Las Vegas, they do well to land Warren, who had 104 catches for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns last year,” Auman said.

In his college career, Warren tallied 19 touchdowns despite becoming a significant contributor to the Penn State offense in his final season. For a New Orleans team that ranked 19th on PFSN’s Offense+ metric, some quality weapons could change their outlook.

And for Auman, it makes even more sense with how things could shake out in free agency.

“This pick makes even more sense if Juwan Johnson leaves in free agency. The Saints could easily look at corner, but they’d likely trade down if Johnson is gone and that’s where they’d like to go with their top pick.”

However, the defense also needs significant work. While some offensive struggles could be attributed to Carr’s injury, the Saints’ defense, ranked 22nd in PFSN’s Defense+ metric, isn’t moving any needles. In PFSN’s latest mock draft, the Saints selected defensive end Shemar Stewart from Texas A&M to help remedy the issues.

He is one of the best edge rushers available, and though he may be a long-term project, under Cam Jordan he’ll have a chance to help a defense that ranked in the bottom-10 in the NFL last season.
