Brink has been one of the top WNBA prospects since her high school days in Oregon. As a five-star recruit and the No. 3 player in ESPN’s 2020 class, Brink had numerous college scholarship offers. She turned down UConn and Oregon before ultimately committing to Stanford.
As a standout player for the Cardinal, Brink helped lead Stanford to an NCAA championship, its first since 1992. That year, she also set the program’s single-season record with 88 blocks (as a freshman).
After completing four years at Stanford, Brink declared for the 2024 WNBA Draft. Drafted No. 2 overall by the Los Angeles Sparks, she quickly made her mark as a defensive powerhouse, averaging over seven points, five rebounds, two blocks, and one steal per game during her brief 15-game rookie season.
Brink’s potential on both ends of the court was unmistakable, making her injury all the more heartbreaking. The injury happened during a hard-fought game in June 2024, when just minutes in against the Connecticut Sun, Brink’s left knee gave out, resulting in a torn ACL.
This devastating injury not only cut her promising rookie season short but also shattered her hopes of representing Team USA in the Paris Olympics, a goal she had poured her heart into.
Despite the setback, Brink’s resilience has been evident as she’s tackled rehab head-on and now appears ready to regain her form and continue her ascent in the WNBA.
While the Sparks have struggled without their star rookie — posting a league-worst 8-32 record and battling defensive lapses — Brink’s absence was felt in every game. Her return could provide a major morale boost, not just for herself but for the entire organization.
The Sparks, who underwent major offseason changes, including a front-office shake-up with the arrival of general manager Raegan Pebley and the departure of former WNBA MVP Nneka Ogwumike, desperately need Brink back on the court as soon as possible.
