Sabrina Ionescu’s Success With Nike Lands Her a Groundbreaking Deal With NWSL Club Worth $121 Million

Over the years, Sabrina Ionescu has become a force in women’s sports and is widely regarded as one of the best players in the WNBA. Last year, she won her maiden Olympic and WNBA titles. In addition, Ionescu released the second edition of her signature Nike shoe, the Sabrina 2, which became the second-most worn shoe in the NBA.

Ionescu’s successes on and off the field have skyrocketed her net worth, and she has now made a significant investment in NWSL club Bay FC.

Sabrina Ionescu Joins NWSL Club Bay FC

Ionescu, a Bay Area native, will join the club as an investor and commercial advisor. She will help Bay FC athletes build their brand portfolios and assist the club’s sponsorship and marketing efforts.

“I am excited to join Bay FC as an investor and commercial advisor,” Ionescu said in a statement. “I have full faith in the Club’s vision and its potential to make a profound impact within and beyond women’s soccer. The Bay FC team and I look forward to driving branding partnerships for the Bay FC athletes and contributing to the overall success of the Club.”

Having been born in Walnut Creek, Calif. and graduated from Miramonte High School in Orinda, Calif.,  Ionescu shares long-standing ties with the region. The 27-year-old admitted it was a “pinch me” moment for her to be able to give back to her community and contribute to the growth of Bay Area FC, which was valued at $121 million in 2024 per Sportico.

“I feel like I was just in high school not that long ago, playing in that community,” Ionescu told Athletic. “When I sit back and think about how young I am and how fast everything has come, it is pretty crazy. Especially on this side of things, being an investor in a professional league. A lot of people do that so much later in their career. For me to be a part of the business side of things so early on, I think it kind of set me up for the future.

“Now being able to impact a franchise, that is pretty crazy to think about. It’s kind of like a pinch-me moment and, obviously, very humbling.”

Ionescu also has investments in Buzzer Media and Nex and has a net worth of $6.3 million in 2025, per Forbes. She has endorsement deals with Nike, Body Armor, Fanatics, AT&T, and Michelob Ultra, and was the first women’s basketball player in history to have a unisex signature collection with Nike, Sabrina 1.
