Jets Predicted To Jump-Start Aaron Glenn Era by Trading Up for 95-TD QB of the Future in 2025 NFL Draft

Following their divorce with Aaron Rodgers, the New York Jets need help at QB. Can they find the quarterback of the future in the 2025 NFL Draft?

The New York Jets need a quarterback after eschewing a chance to run it back with Aaron Rodgers.

With new head coach Aaron Glenn and offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand defecting from the Detroit Lions to run the show in the Big Apple, the Jets need to find their new regime a developmental quarterback they can hitch their wagon to.

Armed with the No. 7 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, they almost certainly won’t be able to nab either of the class’s premier two quarterbacks (Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward). Instead, they could resort to a Day 2 find to reset the culture on offense.

New York Jets Projected To Trade Up For Jaxson Dart in PFSN Mock Draft

In the latest PFSN mock draft, written up by Jacob Infante, the Jets are expected to hang tight at No. 7 overall and select Ole Miss defensive tackle Walter Nolen.

It’s in Round 2 that Infante sees the Jets becoming proactive about their quarterback situation. In a trade up with the Cleveland Browns for No. 33 overall, New York surrenders picks 42 and 109 and a 2026 fourth-round pick to select Nolen’s college teammate, Jaxson Dart.

“With Aaron Rodgers on the way out, the Jets could end up finding another veteran in a trade or free agency to take over as their starting quarterback. That said, don’t rule out them targeting a young quarterback as their heir apparent,” Infante explains.

“The aptly-named Jaxson Dart has a strong arm and ideal ball placement across the middle of the field. He’s also shown some dual-threat capabilities as a runner. He doesn’t seem like a quarterback ready to start right away, but he’s shown tools over his time at Ole Miss that could project him as a future starter at the NFL level.”

In his three-year career at Ole Miss, after transferring from USC, Dart accumulated 10,617 yards and 72 touchdowns in 39 games. Notably, he led the SEC in completion percentage (69.3%), passing yards (4,279), and passing yards per attempt (10.8) in 2024.

Dart is also a proven winner at the collegiate level, having guided Ole Miss to an 11th-place finish in the AP poll this past season after finishing at No. 9 in 2023. They won the Gator Bowl and Peach Bowl in those seasons, respectively.

Glenn started his NFL career as a cornerback with the Jets. After being selected No. 3 overall in the 1994 NFL Draft, he was with New York from 1994 to 2001 and became a three-time Pro Bowler and a member of the Jets’ All-Time Four Decade Team.

Now, he’s returning to the organization in hopes of ending their 14-season playoff drought. Finding a quarterback of the future must be priority number one for him and his staff. Perhaps Dart, coming off a torrid senior season at Ole Miss, can be the answer to the Jets’ longstanding quarterback problems.
