Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers appear desperate to find a solution to his ongoing health issues. For those who may not be aware, Embiid has dealt with numerous injuries throughout his career and was recently shut down for the remainder of the season due to knee problems.
Given Embiid’s size and physical style of play, it’s easy to see why his heavy falls and movements put him at risk for injuries. With his future and long-term health at stake, recent reports suggest that he may follow Kobe Bryant’s lead in seeking specialized treatment for his knees.
Since Bryant’s approach to recovery and mentality remain legendary among NBA fans, Embiid’s potential decision has sparked interest in whether this treatment could help him.
Joel Embiid Will Consider Traveling to Germany for Surgery Like Kobe Bryant
While medical care in the United States is among the best in the world, some athletes seek specialized procedures overseas. Bryant famously traveled to Germany years ago to undergo platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment on his right knee.
Former NBA player Chandler Parsons recently discussed Embiid’s health concerns on air, revealing that the 76ers star is considering traveling to Germany for treatment similar to Bryant’s.
“I’ve talked to Joel [Embiid] about this. He’s thought about going to Germany and doing the Kobe [Bryant] shots.”

“So most teams and agents will have you get a second and third, and for Joel Embiid, fourth and fifth opinion… I’ve talked to Joel about this. He thought of going to Germany and doing the Kobe shots. So there are different methods and ways to manage your pain…”
Parsons continued, “But when it comes down to this and when it’s something that’s surgically required to fix it… You have to do it. Seeing where they are right now, this is the right move.”
With the 76ers sitting at 21-38, they are unlikely to even qualify for the play-in tournament. That gives Embiid extra time to explore the best treatment options for his knee and prepare for next season.
If surgery is necessary, getting it done as soon as possible would be ideal to maximize his recovery time before the 2025-26 campaign begins.
