‘I’m Grateful’ – Azzi Fudd Breaks Silence on UConn Future Months Ahead of Impending WNBA Draft Decision

The WNBA Draft is sure to be a topic of discussion as it gets closer. With the NCAA Tournament preparing to start, many of the players who will declare for the draft will be playing for a championship.

One of those players, Azzi Fudd, is a vital piece to her UConn Huskies team. However, there is a large possibility that she could declare for the draft. Fudd, who has been an integral piece, was asked about what she wants to do next season following the massive Huskies win over Marquette 92-57.

Azzi Fudd Uncertain About Future With UConn

As she sat on the podium discussing the season with her teammates, Fudd was asked about her future with the Huskies, and while she couldn’t give a solid answer, she did express gratitude for her time at UConn.

“These four years have both been fast and extremely slow at times, and I really can’t believe it’s already been four years. I remember being a freshman, thinking it’s going to be a long four years.

“Coach says it every year. Each season goes by, and the four years go by, so so fast. We’ll see about the fifth year, but I’m so grateful for the time that I’ve had.”

Will Fudd Be a First-Round Draft Pick if She Declares?

Fudd is projected by many to be a first-round draft pick in the event she does declare for the WNBA Draft, but the decision is fast approaching as the draft takes place on April 14. If UConn reaches the NCAA Championship Game, that would leave Fudd with just 48 hours to make her decision about declaring for the draft.

When Fudd is on the court for the Huskies, she’s been dynamic. The only issue with that is her court time. She’s played only 66 games in four years while dealing with a multitude of injuries over time.

Despite that, when Fudd plays, she showcases the talent we all know she has. She’s currently averaging 12.8 points per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, including an amazing 45.2% from 3-point range and 88.9% from the free-throw line this season.

That type of efficiency stands out for any player, which puts Fudd in a prime position if she chooses to declare for the draft. Her most dynamic game of the season came against the fourth-ranked South Carolina team, when she scored 28 points and pulled down five rebounds while shooting 50% from the field and 60% from 3-point range.

In the game prior to that, she scored a season-high 34 points against St. John’s on 59.1% shooting from the field and 57.1% from 3-point range.

Those performances have many crowning Fudd as a likely first-round draft pick. Her efficiency, shooting, and talent are all attributes that would make any WNBA team interested. The choice is hers — what will Fudd do?
