Steve Kerr has not let the Golden State Warriors’ recent success get to his head and continues to display humility. The majority of the NBA world will know that the Warriors are the most successful franchise in modern NBA history. The team won four championships under Kerr but has fallen out of title contention over the past few seasons.
The Warriors are on a roll after adding Jimmy Butler III to their roster and pairing him with Stephen Curry. Since acquiring Butler, they have won almost every game.
During a recent interview, one of the reporters put Kerr in an interesting situation, and he ended up revealing his true thoughts.
Steve Kerr Does Not Believe Warriors Can Make NBA Finals
While Kerr may not have intended to send that message to the Warriors’ fanbase, he did just that. When asked about the Warriors’ bench and whether they would be enough in the Finals, Kerr gave the reporter a reality check.
“We would like to make the playoffs. The playoffs. You’re talking about the Finals? We just want to make the playoffs. Let’s not talk about the Finals.”

Although the Warriors have momentum after trading for Butler, their current record is 32-28. That places them seventh in the Western Conference, and they would have to go through the NBA Play-In Tournament to qualify for the postseason.
Butler did not play in the Warriors’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers. According to reports, he is dealing with back spasms and is not perfectly healthy. As a result, fans can certainly understand why Kerr does not believe that a path to the Finals is guaranteed.

While Kerr’s statements could potentially rub some fans the wrong way, there is nothing wrong with remaining humble and accepting that tackling immediate goals takes greater priority when compared to discussing making it to the NBA Finals.
Since the trade deadline, the Warriors have emerged as one of the NBA’s best teams, and fans believe they can make a deep postseason push. However, assuming they will make it through the playoffs in a competitive Western Conference would be unwise.
