On Saturday, March 1, Shedeur Sanders did an interview at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine where he said that he is his father’s, Deion Sanders, favorite son. However, he also said that Coach Prime views all of his players as his children, so he thought maybe Jimmy Horn Jr. or LaJohntay Wester could pass him over the weekend.
It appears that happened because after Horn finished his events at the NFL Combine, analyst Rich Eisen got a text saying, “Jimmy #1.”

Shedeur Sanders Falls Out of No. 1 Spot on Deion Sanders’ Children Ranking
Shedeur thought he was his father’s favorite child, but that no longer appears to be the case. Deion Sanders views all of his players as his children — thus, he has several kids. Two of them, wide receivers Horn and Wester, participated in the 2025 NFL Combine drills.
After Horn finished his events, the Colorado Buffaloes head coach texted Eisen, who was commentating on the NFL broadcast, jokingly claiming that Horn is his new favorite son.
“The current list of Deion’s favorite children and Shedeur said that everybody is his child on the program. Well, Deion texted me Jimmy #1. I mean my phone buzzed as soon as I got off the air. You see, Jimmy #1, official. They saw it (laughing). It’s alright. Yeah, that’s what happens when you’re in Prime’s world, man.”

Both Horn and Shedeur Sanders saw the text on the big screen at the arena. Horn could be seen laughing and celebrating whereas Sanders was shaking his head.
Shedeur did not have the opportunity to impress his father over the weekend at the NFL Combine because he decided not to participate in throwing drills. Instead, he went to the event to do interviews and is opting to wait to showcase his skills until Colorado’s Pro Day.
This decision drew criticism from fans and many members of the media. However, when Sanders spoke at his media availability at the Combine, he said he’s not worried about what his critics say.
“You think I’m worried about what critics say or what people got to say?” Sanders said. “You know who my dad is? They hated on him too. So, it’s almost normal; without people hating it’s not normal for us. We like the adversity. We like everything that comes with the name. That’s why we are who we are.”
Shedeur Sanders is projected to be one of the top five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.
