Deebo Samuel Sr. Contract, Salary, and Net Worth: Analyzing the Star WR’s Deal After Blockbuster Trade to Commanders

The Commanders just made a big offseason splash, trading for 49ers WR Deebo Samuel. Let's check his contract and net worth following the trade.

One of the first major trades of the 2025 NFL offseason just went down as the San Francisco 49ers traded Deebo Samuel Sr. to the Washington Commanders in exchange for a fifth-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Let’s take a look at how the trade will affect Samuel’s contract while also looking at his salary, net worth, and career earnings.

What Is Deebo Samuel Sr.’s Current Contract and Salary?

In 2022, Samuel and the 49ers agreed to a three-year extension on his rookie contract worth $71,550,000, including $58,100,000 guaranteed.

Following the trade, Washington will see Samuel play 2025 on a one-year, $17.5 million contract unless the parties come to an agreement on a contract extension. Washington will pay the entirety of Samuel’s salary.

Samuel has one year left on his deal. His cap number with the 49ers in 2025 would have been $15,869,012. Since he was traded before June 1, San Francisco will take on $31,550,012 in dead money.

    The Commanders will take on:

    • $1,170,000 base salary
    • $15,430,530 option bonus, prorating over five void years
    • $4,957,871 number in 2025
    • $750,000 total per-game roster bonus
    • $200,000 workout bonus
    • $12,344,424 of dead money in 2026 when the deal voids

Since signing the contract, the 2021 first-team All-Pro WR has missed seven games due to various injuries and is due for a new contract at the end of the 2025 season.

After signing WR Brandon Aiyuk to a four-year, $120,000,000 extension last offseason and making George Kittle one of the highest-paid tight ends in the league — and with QB Brock Purdy needing a contract after the 2025 season — Samuel looked like the odd man out. Samuel recently requested a trade from the 49ers as well.

Meanwhile, the Commanders are brimming with cap space and desperately needed another weapon next to WR Terry McLaurin for 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year QB Jayden Daniels. Washington didn’t have a reliable WR2 all season, with tight end Zach Ertz emerging as the team’s second option over receivers like Olamide Zaccheaus, Noah Brown, Dyami Brown, and Luke McCaffrey.

While Samuel is under contract for another year, Washington could easily come to terms with the star wideout on a new deal that secures his future.

The Commanders thrived with a roster of multi-talented players, and Samuel fits easily into that mold. While he is a talented receiver, he’s also a great blocker and fantastic out of the backfield. With Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury asking his playmakers to wear many hats, Samuel should see a similar role to the one he had in San Francisco.

What Is Samuel’s Net Worth and Career Earnings?

Samuel has earned $64,203,237 from NFL contracts, which will rise to $81,753,766 after the 2025 season. His total earnings may be high, but his net worth is not as gaudy. The WR had a net worth of $20 million as of last year.

The majority of his earnings have come from his contracts, but he also has endorsement deals with companies such as Jordan Brand, Nike, Snaps, Old Spice, and Dolce & Gabbana.

Samuel also invested in a food and beverage company called Cheribundi. The company, based out of Boulder, Colorado, makes and sells tart cherry juice.

Samuel was introduced to tart cherry juice during his collegiate career at the University of South Carolina. Since then, he has used the juice regularly, twice daily on Mondays and Tuesdays after games.

According to Cheribundi’s website, the juice is targeted at amateur and professional athletes, as it contains natural concentrations of phytonutrients and antioxidants that are essential for reducing muscle soreness and joint inflammation.
