Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams Staying Together? NFL Insider Reveals NFC Team Is Set To Pursue ‘Intriguing’ Star Duo

With Aaron Rodgers departing, Davante Adams is also expected to leave the Jets, but one NFL analyst predicts they could stay together with one NFC team.

The New York Jets eventually pressed the reset button after weeks of speculation around Aaron Rodgers’ future and are moving forward without the veteran quarterback. Although Rodgers hasn’t been released yet, it’s clear he won’t be on the team in 2025, and that also opens up trade options for wide receiver Davante Adams.

While plenty of teams could use Rodgers’ arm talent and championship experience, a surprising new suitor has emerged in trade speculation — and the deal could also include Adams.

NFL Analyst Predicts Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams Could Be Traded to Giants

The New York Giants finished 29th in success rate both through the air and on the ground, and Daniel Jones (who was cut mid-season) finished as the league’s 32nd-best quarterback by PFSN’s QB+ metric. New York also had an impotent red-zone offense, ranking last in touchdown rate (43%) by a wide margin.

New York was heavily linked with Matthew Stafford before the veteran decided to re-sign with the Los Angeles Rams. The team is now left wondering about other options as pressure mounts on head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen.

Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer believes the Giants could bring in Rodgers and his battery mate in a package deal from the Jets and then take Travis Hunter No. 3 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. Although the Giants getting all three seems unlikely, Breer suggests it could be their best option to solve most of their offensive problems.

“My understanding is that the Giants’ plan is to look at all their options, including bringing Aaron Rodgers (who hasn’t been released by the New York Jets yet) across town.

“Shopping for Stafford, and showing a willingness to pay him, gave the Giants a real look at what adding a veteran quarterback, and accelerating their timeline would look like. And I think the idea of drafting Travis Hunter with the third pick, adding a receiver (might’ve been Cooper Kupp for Stafford; Davante Adams for Rodgers), and getting healthy on the line is intriguing.”

NFL analyst Charles Robinson also argued that if the Giants were willing to trade for Stafford, Rodgers could be a good second option and cheaper.

“Both the head and the general manager…know, ‘We go 7-10 in 2025, we’re fired. We need someone who can come in right now, hit the ground running, and lead us to winning.’

“You have to look at everything on the table, and if you’re willing to stare at Stafford and consider giving him $50 million, consider giving up a second-round draft pick, plus additional capital. Absolutely, you’re going to look at Aaron Rodgers, who is (a) cheaper, (b) free in terms of an asset standpoint, yeah, you look at that situation.”

Rodgers posted 3,897 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, a 63.0% completion rate, and a 90.5 passer rating last season with the Jets but couldn’t win them more than five games. He finished 22nd in PFSN’s QB+ metric with a 72.2 grade.

Adding Adams alongside Rodgers could give the Giants a better chance, given that the duo has connected on 83 career touchdowns (including the playoffs), fifth-most by a pair all-time.
