Lakers Superstar Luka Dončić Responds to His Father’s Viral Reaction to Rainbow 3-Pointer

Coming off their 107-99 win against his former team, Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić hit a three-point shot against the Minnesota Timberwolves that even surprised his father.

The Lakers won 111-102 against the Timberwolves and Dončić finished with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists in 36 minutes.

    Luka Dončić’s Dad’s Reaction to Three-Pointer

The reaction from his father, Saša Dončić, was spotted with 3:37 left in the fourth quarter when the Lakers were up 98-91.

Dončić’s dad is seen with his hands over his face.

After the game, Dončić was told about his father’s reaction.

“Uh, your dad covered his face when you made that 3. Are you surprised you’re still able to shock him with the shots you make?” a reporter asked the Lakers’ new superstar.

“He probably said, ‘Finally, he made a shot.’ I don’t think he was impressed. He said, ‘Finally he made a shot,'” Dončić said while smirking with reporters laughing in the background.

Dončić’s Tenure With the Los Angeles Lakers So Far

After being traded to the Lakers on Feb. 1, Dončić has played in five games. He missed the first three games after being traded, making his debut on Feb. 10 against the Utah Jazz. He had 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists in 23 minutes and 33 seconds.

He then played two more games, missed Feb. 20, and has been available the last three games against the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, and Timberwolves.

Heading into the game against Minnesota, Dončić was averaging 19 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game with the Lakers.

Thus far, though, he’s been struggling from three-point range. Heading into the game against Minnesota, he was shooting just 25% from three-point range. Against Minnesota, he was just one for nine, with the one being Dončić’s father’s reaction.

Perhaps there was something to Dončić’s analysis of his father’s reaction. Dončić has shot better than 14.3% in two games this season while with the Lakers. Those came against the Nuggets (4 of 9) and the Jazz (3 of 8).

That said, against his former team, the Mavericks, with which he spent about seven seasons, Dončić had 19 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, three steals, and two blocks.

According to PFSN’s Mohammad Faisal, the NBA game averaged 2.5 million viewers across TNT, TruTV, and Max. Not bad for a “revenge game.”

He’s had double-digit rebounds in each of his last four games. He’s also had 19 points or more in each of his last three games.

Next, Dončić and the Lakers will host the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers are considered the home team at the Crypto.com Arena, which they share with the Clippers. Dončić isn’t listed on any available injury reports, so he’s expected to be on the court tonight, where he can hopefully get back on track with his three-point shots.
