A major blow came for 2025 NFL Draft prospect Abdul Carter as the Penn State edge attends the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. A recent report states that doctors have advised him to not participate in any physical activity owing to his foot injury.
Although he won’t undergo surgery after the recent scans, Carter shouldn’t be participating in any drills that could worsen his health.

The Penn State defender is a man of few words. He doesn’t often flash his views publicly but happens to be a standout prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Per multiple mock drafts (including the latest from PFSN), he could be a top five pick.

On Feb. 26, he was expected to undergo multiple scans due to a stress reaction in his right foot discovered during the Combine. Although he will not undergo surgery, he is advised not to indulge in physical activities.
His agent Drew Rosenhaus shared the update on Thursday morning that Carter won’t participate in Combine drills, though he was set to sit out regardless due to a shoulder injury.
“I couldn’t be more confident that this will be a nonfactor where he’s drafted. He will put on a show at his pro day,” Rosenhaus said to ESPN. This news became an instant hit and sparked mixed reactions.

“This seems reckless. What does he have to gain by committing to a pro day vs getting surgery and being ready for camp?” asked one fan referencing Carter’s plan to compete at the Penn State Pro Day.

He was not expected to work out at the NFL Combine due to a shoulder injury he suffered during the Boise State game in the College Football Playoff. While talking to the reporter, Carter flexed about his skill sets and made his case why he should be picked No. 1 overall.
“I feel like I’m the best player in the country, and the best player should be picked first,” he said in the press conference. “It’s the work I put in with my dad, who trained me, and all the sacrifices I made. I know I’m the best,” he added.

When asked about his medical status, Carter explained that he was on the path to recovery. “I think I’m about 90% right now. I feel like the next month it’s going to be really close to 100 [%].”
“Definitely defensive end or edge rusher, but I feel like I could play wherever my coaches need. Wherever they feel the need, that’s where I’ll play,” Carter said while explaining about his flexibility in playing different positions.
According to the current NFL Draft order, Carter could be a likely target for the Cleveland Browns or the New York Giants if they forego the decision to pick a QB.
