What began as a heartwarming interaction between Victor Wembanyama and a young NBA fan has now evolved into a heated legal battle with multiple complications. Wembanyama has played at an elite level since joining the NBA in the 2023 NBA Draft and has turned into a fan favorite.
As a result, he interacted with a young fan named Frankie Desideri Jr. and engaged in a jersey swap. Given the dramatic height difference between the San Antonio Spurs star and the child, as well as the difference in jersey sizes, their picture together caught the attention of the NBA world. However, things have changed quite drastically since then.
Frankie Desideri Sr. Attempting To Stop Victor Wembanyama Jersey Sale
Frankie Desideri Sr. had his son hold up a poster urging Wembanyama to proceed with a jersey exchange. Desideri Jr. did not even appear to be aware of what was occurring and even needed assistance to pose with the jersey, truly an interesting situation that gives fans a lot to ponder.
Desideri Sr. soon attempted to sell the jersey via Goldin Auctions. According to the reports from the CEO, the elder Desideri contacted them, chose to click sell, and even signed a consignment contract.
The jersey was soon auctioned off and sold for $73,000. However, Desideri Sr. decided to backtrack on selling the jersey. He claimed that his son was unwilling to follow through with the sale. Citing seller’s remorse and not having a legal guardian present was the only way for him to halt the sale.

Although this legal battle could get ugly, it seems highly unlikely for Desideri Sr. to regain possession of the jersey from the winner of the auction. However, it was also revealed that the family did not want any pictures of Desideri Jr. to be included with the jersey promotion, and their request was not respected.
In that case, there is still a chance for the auction sale to be nullified. Fans are left wondering if Wembanyama’s ailment played a role in the Desideri family’s decision to back out of the auction process and what the true reason behind their seller’s remorse could be.
