The news surrounding Los Angeles Rams veteran and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford continues circulating. The New York Post reported the New York Giants met with his representatives at the 2025 NFL Combine.
This comes after Stafford and Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady met at a ski resort in Montana.
Giants general manager Joe Schoen was asked about the meeting at the NFL Scouting Combine and said to ask the Rams whether or not the meeting took place.

Is Matthew Stafford the New York Giants’ Answer?
The Giants have egg on their face after allowing running back Saquon Barkley to walk and extending Daniel Jones on a four-year $160 million deal.
As we now know, Barkley left for the Eagles and went on to win a Super Bowl this past season. The team also cut Daniel Jones, who was recently on the practice squad for the Minnesota Vikings.
This has put Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll firmly on the hot seat.
They need an answer now to turn the franchise around after going 3-14 last season.
This past season, Stafford and the Rams went to the playoffs before losing the division round to the Eagles.
The Giants would have to trade draft capital to acquire Stafford, who was granted permission to seek a trade.
In the 2025 NFL Draft, the Giants hold the No. 3, No. 34, No. 65, No. 103, No. 134, No. 155, No. 221, and No. 248 overall selections.
They also have $48,390,069 in cap space, per OverTheCap. This is important as Stafford’s cap hit is just north of that at about $49.6 million.
The Rams would almost certainly target that No. 34 selection.
If they were to do that, plus a pick in the 2026 Draft, they could leave the draft with Stafford and potentially either edge rusher Abdul Carter or wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter.
Would Stafford Elevate the Giants?
In 2024, Stafford completed 340 of 517 passes (65.8%) for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns, and eight interceptions across 16 games.
As mentioned, the Rams went to the Divisional Round but lost to the Eagles 28-22.
If he landed with the Giants, he’d land on a roster that actually has some decent playmakers on offense, including running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., wide receivers Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan’Dale Robinson.
It’s also worth noting that it’s highly likely that wide receiver Cooper Kupp will likely go wherever Stafford goes.
Stafford would certainly be an upgrade from Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito, and Tim Boyle, but in the NFC East, competing with the Eagles and surging Washington Commanders would be a tall task, to say the least.
In PFSN’s latest mock draft by Owain Jones, the Giants are set to select quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 3 overall pick.
