The Green Bay Packers are looking to rearrange their cornerback room this offseason, and it starts with entertaining trade talks for their star CB, Jaire Alexander. The Packers have had questions about Alexander’s future with the team, and it’s reached a point where trade talks are beginning.
Alexander should be the crown jewel of this offseason’s cornerback market. His sustained success over the last few years has earned him the reputation of being one of the NFL‘s top corners, and he’ll likely be sought after by several suitors.

Green Bay Packers Are Looking To Move Jaire Alexander
It looks like Alexander’s time as a Packer will come to a close before next season begins.
Green Bay has had concerns with his injury history and inability to stay on the field. In each of the past two seasons, Alexander only played seven of 17 regular-season games. Last year, he tried to make a return by practicing periodically until his season officially ended with surgery for a torn PCL.
The Packers placed Alexander on injured reserve at the end of the season even though his last game action was Nov. 17 — which may in fact be the last time that Alexander touches the field wearing a Green Bay uniform.
As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports, the Packers have had trade conversations with teams centered around the services of Alexander. According to Rapoport, the Packers are “open to moving him for the right price.”

Alexander is only 28 years old, but his injury issues are putting doubts on his future with the Packers. After their season ended at the hands of the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, general manager Brian Gutekunst wasn’t willing to commit to Alexander’s future with the team. Now, it looks clear Green Bay is at least looking to move off him if the chance arises.
Since entering the league seven seasons ago, Alexander has been regarded as one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks. He’s a two-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro and will have much to offer if he avoids any major injuries.
In his seven seasons, Alexander has recorded 12 interceptions and locked down many top receivers. And while the Packers would love to keep him, his injury issues are putting them in a tough spot.
If Alexander is indeed moved, Green Bay will be looking to lean on cornerbacks Eric Stokes, Keisean Nixon, and Carrington Valentine to carry the load next season. The Packers’ defense will look to keep up where they left off under the leadership of defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
The Packers have work to do to compete with the top dogs in the NFC, and potentially moving Alexander to improve elsewhere might be the first step. For Alexander, a new home could revitalize him from an injury-prone star to a consistent lockdown cornerback.
