Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco had a rollercoaster 2024 campaign in Kansas City. The former Rutgers star was selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft by Andy Reid’s team.
Pacheco was the starting RB before suffering a fractured fibula in Week 2. Pacheco was placed on injured reserve in September before returning in Week 13. He finished the regular season with 310 rushing yards and one touchdown on 83 carries.
However, he still ended the season with a trophy to his name. His girlfriend Ciarra Ortiz took to social media to share an encouraging message for the Chiefs RB.

Pacheco was honored as the winner of the Ed Block Courage Award on Saturday, which is given to an NFL player who showcases a strong commitment to sportsmanship and courage.
Following this achievement, his girlfriend Ciarra took to Instagram to share a heartwarming story for the Chiefs RB celebrating the honor. In her story, she shared a post of Pacheco being announced as the Ed Block Courage Award winner, along with an encouraging message for the RB.
“hard work gonna take you farther than hustle ever could. Always so proud of you my love,” Ciarra wrote in the caption.

Over the years, Pacheco has become a key player on Reid’s team and has won two Super Bowls in his young career. The Chiefs also shared a post on social media celebrating the running back’s achievement.
“This year’s Ed Block Courage Award goes to none other than @Isiah_PachecoRB. Congratulations Pop,” the Chiefs wrote in the tweet on X.

Pacheco will continue to be an indispensable player, as backfield mates Kareem Hunt and Samaje Perine hit free agency later this year. Last year, it was quarterback Patrick Mahomes who took home the Ed Block Courage Award.
Pacheco Will Be Under the Spotlight During the 2025 Season
The Chiefs failed to garner a Super Bowl three-peat after losing to the Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Hunt was the team’s rushing yardage leader in 2024.
However, with Hunt slated to hit free agency, Pacheco will be expected to step up and make big plays during the 2025 season. If Hunt and the Chiefs can’t come to terms on a new contract, Pacheco will be tasked with ensuring the team’s running game is fierce enough to compete in the AFC.
Pacheco is currently playing under his four-year $3.73 million rookie contract. If he has an outstanding campaign next season, then it might certainly open the door to begin negotiations on a contract extension.
