‘Imma Bust His A**’: Why NASCAR Legend Tony Stewart Threw Hands At Joey Logano

In 2013, NASCAR veteran Tony Stewart got into a physical altercation with Joey Logano at the Auto Club Speedway. Stewart had lost his cool with Logano after the No. 22 driver had pushed him down the race track following a restart with 11 laps to go.

As the drivers made their way to pit road, Stewart parked his car alongside the No.22 car, jumped out, and bolted towards Logano, triggering a post-race shoving match. Stewart was pulled back by a fuelman from Danica Patrick’s team but not before he took a couple of swings at Logano.

The incident had all started when Logano refused to let the three-time champion pass and kept ducking towards the white line to block Stewart, running him down to the in-field. This made Stewart lose his momentum and he ultimately finished the race 22nd.

In a post-race interview with FOX, Stewart ranted, “The dumb little b**** runs us clear down to the infield. He wants to f*** about everyone else and he’s the one that drives like a little p****. I’m gonna bust his a**.”

Stewart added, “It’s time he learns a lesson. He’s run his mouth long enough. He’s nothing but a little rich kid that’s never had to work in his life, so he’s going to learn what us working guys who had to work our way up how it works.”

Years later, Stewart recalled his fight with Logano on Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s ‘Dale Jr. Download’ podcast. Talking about their falling out, he said, “I was so mad at Joey. Joey had a real big habit at that time of running you all over the race track, and he literally ran me down to the grass where nobody had been all day. I had Joey hemmed up, I’m like, ‘I got his a** now. I’m gonna dot his I, cross his T. We got this.”

Stewart was not the only one Logano made enemies of at the Auto Club Speedway, as he sent Denny Hamlin head-on into a wall. Hamlin has to be airlifted to the hospital.
