Oscar Robertson made headlines during the 2025 All-Star break when he took a shot at Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green after Green called the current NBA game boring.
Robertson disagreed and made his feelings known. He suggested that Green might find the game boring because all he does is pass the ball to Stephen Curry.
Green is a quick-response guy, so when it came time to air his newest episode of the “Draymond Green Show” podcast, it was expected he’d have something to say.
Draymond Green’s Response to Oscar Robertson
Green was pretty light compared to his usual lively responses to people who critique him, and that was due to his respect for a legend in the game of basketball like Oscar Robertson. Still, Green made sure to highlight how old Robertson was multiple times.
Draymond's response: "At 86, BIG 0 sound asleep by the time we play at night. There's 0% chance BIG 0 is up watching the dubs…He got the respect from me which is why I ain't crushing him how I would crush somebody else." pic.twitter.com/FpbtVljxrt https://t.co/K9FsAuVpHn

“Big O is 86 years old. I’m never going to disrespect one of the pioneers of the game because he shares a bad opinion.”
Green would then reply in his own way to the notion that all he does is pass the ball to Curry:
“I’m not sure what idiot wouldn’t want to pass Steph Curry the ball, when he’s the greatest shooter of all time. Why wouldn’t I? Quite honestly Big O, I get a lot of pleasure out of passing the ball.”
Green would finish his reply to Robertson once again, bringing his age up before closing with this:
“At 86, Big O sound asleep by the time we play at night. There’s 0% chance Big O is up watching the dubs…He got the respect from me which is why I ain’t crushing him how I would crush somebody else.”
Green Recalls Seeing Robertson During All-Star Break
Green would continue discussing his love for passing while citing that Robertson also was a pass first player as he began to age. Robertson famously played alongside Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the Milwaukee Bucks in the late years of his career.
“In the year that Big O won a championship, when he was starting to age, you were passing the ball to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself, you know, Mr. Sky Hook, Lew Alcindor, for those that’s a little aged.”
Green would finish his piece by pointing out he saw Robertson while doing the Skills Challenge, and there was no sign of any issue at the time.
“During the Skills Challenge that I blew, I saw him on the sideline. I got up out my seat, went and said hello and he’s like ‘man, you still out there doing it, keep on going, love watching you play’ and then the next morning, he completely flip and go opposite.”
Perhaps Robertson hadn’t heard Green’s comments before then, or maybe he wanted to address it publicly, but it doesn’t seem as if this small spat will continue on much longer. Robertson is a Hall of Famer, and many feel that Green will end up as a Hall of Famer, so at least they have some common ground.
