Chicago Bulls Predicted To Add 6’11” Versatile Forward in 1st Round of 2025 NBA Draft

The Chicago Bulls are well on their way to getting a top-10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. They haven’t completely embraced their rebuild, but trading Zach LaVine will help them get a decent lottery pick in a loaded draft class.

If the season ended today, the Bulls would be on track to have the No. 8 pick in the draft. It may not be the highest pick, but it could help build toward a promising tomorrow for the Windy City.

Chicago Bulls Predicted To Draft Asa Newell With No. 8 Overall Pick in 2025 NBA Draft

Pro Football Network’s Kyle Soppe predicted the Bulls would select forward Asa Nowell from the University of Georgia with the No. 8 overall pick. He explained why Nowell fits with the Bulls’ current makeup.

“Asa Newell’s build (220 pounds) may prove prohibitive when it comes to doing much damage in the paint at the professional level. But with Nikola Vučević’s days in Chicago likely numbered (rumored in various trades this winter and will be entering the final year of his deal), a 6’11” prospect with some offensive and defensive versatility, Newell is an interesting add for a team with some upside already rostered in the backcourt,” Soppe wrote.

In 27 games, Newell has averaged 15.4 points and 6.7 rebounds while shooting 55.3% from the floor and 29.4% from three. He may not be much of a floor spacer, but his youth could be a much-needed boost to a team like the Bulls that is looking for just that.

Drafting Newell would be a strong signal that the Bulls intend to part ways with Vucevic, but that’s thinking too far down the line. Plus, who knows what exactly the Bulls plan to do with him or really in general?

The Bulls have been stuck in no man’s land for some time now. However, they have slowly embraced getting younger at a snail’s pace. Trading LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Alex Caruso have been pretty good indications that they plan on a rebuild, but for some odd reason, Vucevic is still on the team even though the Bulls are barely in the playoff mix.

With all that out there, they still have a few talented young players like Coby White, Matas Buzelis, and Josh Giddey. There are others like Ayo Dosunmu and Patrick Williams, but it remains to be seen if they are part of the Bulls’ long-term future.

Newell would help the Bulls transition to becoming a younger team, which, in their case, is long overdue.
