The New England Patriots have failed to find stability after parting ways with Bill Belichick. His protégé Jerod Mayo was fired after just one season and Mike Vrabel has been brought on as the new head coach.
However, the Patriots cornerback is still not over the fact of Mayo’s unceremonious firing. NFL fans have their say on his controversial statements.

Christian Gonzalez’s Comments Rile Up NFL Fans
The Patriots ended the season with a 4-13 record under Mayo. Almost nobody was expecting the 39-year-old to be axed. But it happened with owner Robert Kraft admitting to putting Mayo in an “untenable situation.”
Soon after the firing of Mayo, the Patriots looked for their next HC and decided on the former Patriots player and Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel. Since his arrival, Vrabel has changed the entire setup at Foxboro with a completely new coaching staff.
The Patriots All-Pro recently appeared on the “Frat Rules,” podcast and said his piece on the entire development. “I did [like Jerod Mayo as a coach],” he said. “I think they did him a little dirty giving him only one year. But it’s business. We gon’ see what [Mike Vrabel] do. …They damn near cleaned house.”
His comments were posted on Reddit and fans stand divided on the entire matter. Some highlighted the reception that Gonzalez might receive from Vrabel after his comments others suggested what the CB said is completely true.
“Mayo talked himself out of a job more than he coached himself out of one,” replied one fan.

“Vrabel gonna get these guys to shut the f**k up to the media again,” added a fan.
“Two things can be true at the same time. Jerod Mayo was not ready to be a head coach and didn’t have a good season. The Patriots didn’t put Mayo in a position to succeed,” commented a fan.

“Gonzalez is getting his a** chewed out by Vrabel in front of the team when they all meet up next in OTAs. Horseshoe tobacco dip in & all lol. It’ll show the team that nobody is safe/untouchable, even if Gonzo is a top 10 CB in the league,” added another fan.
“Any coach was going to have a tough time following up Bill and taking over that roster. Mayo just also showed zero signs of being ready to take over, and the team reflected that,” one fan replied.

“Here’s the deal. Mayo was put in an awful position and if we just had the same on the field product I’d say they did him dirty. And maybe they still did him a little dirty,” commented another fan.
Compared to Mayo’s five years of coaching experience before being named the HC, Vrabel has a total of 10 years of NFL coaching experience under his belt. Vrabel led the Titans for six seasons with an overall record of 54-45.
