Caitlin Clark Goes Viral After Landing Taylor Swift Comparison From New Head Coach, Teammate

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is going viral on social media after landing multiple comparisons to pop icon Taylor Swift within the week. The two were spotted together at a Kansas City Chiefs game and have received much attention as a pair.

Indiana Fever’s New Head Coach Calls Caitlin Clark a “Taylor Swift 2.0”

Caitlin Clark was recently spotted hanging out with Taylor Swift at a Chiefs’ playoff game, and she has since received a plethora of attention and comparisons to the iconic pop star.

The first to make the comparison was her new teammate, Sophie Cunningham. “I will be her Sabrina Carpenter, any day, to her Taylor Swift,” said Fever newcomer Sophie Cunningham.

This quickly caught the attention of WNBA fans, but the comparisons didn’t stop there as even Indiana’s new head coach chimed in. Former head coach of the Connecticut Sun and 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year Stephanie White was named the new head coach of the Fever back in November of 2024. In a recent interview, she gave Clark quite the comparison, calling her a “Taylor Swift 2.0”

“I think first and foremost, she does an outstanding job of managing it all,” Stephanie White told “The Sports Media Podcast” with Richard Deitsch when asked about the “circus” surrounding Clark.

“She’s incredibly humble. She understands the big picture. So she views it understanding her celebrity, No. 1. But No. 2, she’s a Midwest kid, a Midwest person and she is who she is,” White continued. “She tries to live her life in an authentic way. But she’s very much Taylor Swift 2.0.”

“I think from my perspective, and from our staff and franchise, it’s how do we help her navigate all of this? How do we help her protect her peace? Because it can be a lot,” White continued. “How can we be a resource for her? It’s a different level now with social media and fan engagement. We want to be a resource and help protect her.”

“She’s an incredible kid. I call her a kid, but she’s obviously a young woman. An incredible talent. She’s an incredible human being. She works her tail off. There’s a reason she is who she is in terms of a player. She’s handled all of this with such grace and poise that most 23-year-olds wouldn’t be able to.”

“From a coaching perspective, keep the main thing the main thing. Help her protect her peace and then help her continue to grow on the basketball court. We let our players know sometimes you gotta minimize the noise around you and focus on what our job is. Our job is to put the best team and the best product on the floor that we’re capable of doing.”

Being compared to Swift in terms of status and the way she carries herself is unbelievably high praise. That said, it’s very deserving, as she has quite literally revolutionized women’s basketball.

Her popularity in college was nowhere near what her status is currently, and even then, she was the main attraction to the women’s March Madness tournament. After just one season in the WNBA, Clark is on pace to be one of the most popular players in league history.

Following her rookie season, Clark reflected on how she’s able to stay true to herself, even through all of the cameras following her seemingly 24/7.

“I feel like everybody’s always watching your every move, no matter what you’re doing,” Clark said after her rookie season ended. “And I feel like the best thing that I’ve tried to live by is to just be the same person that I am off the court, whether I’m leaving my apartment every single day or whether I’m here sitting in front of all of you.”

Clark is truly the definition of a class act, as she has remained incredibly humble throughout her career. With her level of play on the court and her humility off it, it’s very hard not to root for her to continue to see this success.
