NFL Insider Predicts Packers May Give ‘Massive’ Contract to 10-TD Star WR This Offseason

Could the Packers be the perfect destination for the most sought-out free agent prospect in the 2025 offseason? One insider seems to think they're a fit.

Following an 11-6 season in the NFL‘s best division, the Green Bay Packers look keen to make a big splash in free agency.

Despite a strong regular season, the Packers were bounced in the Wild Card Round of the 2025 NFL playoffs by the eventual Super Bowl 59 champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. The addition of running back Josh Jacobs paid dividends as he helped the Packers immensely in having the season they did.

In the 2025 offseason, it appears that general manager Brian Gutekunst may be looking to add another massive skill-position player.

Could Tee Higgins Head to Green Bay?

NFL insider Jordan Schultz said that he could see Tee Higgins being a strong fit for this Packer squad after they fell short in 2024.

“Tee should get [$20 million per year] and more … the Packers, knowing that they have not traditionally been a big free agency team, but they’ve also had a lot of injuries,” Schultz said.

Higgins has spent all of his five-year NFL career with the Cincinnati Bengals. There, he has served as the No. 2 receiver to superstar Ja’Marr Chase. Ironically, the two are now both represented by the same agent, making his landing spot even more puzzling, as it’s hard to tell if that will hurt or help the Bengals’ case of retaining both.

Schultz is not the only one who thinks adding a proven star WR is in Green Bay’s best interest. Jacobs was not shy from including his opinion on the Packers’ needs when he appeared on Kay Adams’ “Up & Adams” show — “I think we need like three,” Jacobs said.

Jacobs’ short response may come as a slight to some of his current teammates, but the Alabama product later confirmed his claim. “We’ve got a really young group of receivers, all can be really, really, really special,” Jacobs said. “But I think personally, we need a guy who’s proven to be a No. 1 receiver already.”

Higgins’ Impact as a Free Agent

Higgins ranks first overall on PFSN’s top 100 NFL free agents list for 2025. PFSN’s Ben Rolfe describes Higgins’ impact at the position and how he is proven to help quarterbacks.

“Over the course of his time in the NFL, Higgins ranks 10th at the position in success rate (59.8%) and 13th at the position in terms of touchdowns. The 2024 season was Higgins’ best in terms of touchdowns (10), despite only playing in 12 games. His drop rate this season was also a career-low at 2.8%, while Joe Burrow had a 119.5 passer rating when targeting him.”

Despite an up-and-down campaign, the Bengals’ offense proved to be a problem all season long. They ranked in the top 10 of PFSN’s 2024 Offense+ rankings, finishing seventh. Finishing the season with an 83.4 (B ranking) despite the team’s overall struggles proves how valuable someone like Higgins can be.

If Higgins does opt to go with Green Bay, they will instantly become a strong contender in the tight NFC North.
