The Steelers, who currently have Russell Wilson and Justin Fields as their quarterbacks have been searching for a competent quarterback to run their offense. While Rodgers could solve those issues in the waning moments of his career, not everyone in the Steelers’ locker room seems thrilled with the idea. In a since-deleted comment under an Instagram post about Pittsburgh potentially being interested in signing Rodgers, Steelers defensive back DeShon Elliott didn’t hold back with this blunt seven-word comment.

It was a short and slightly disrespectful shot at the Super Bowl-winning future Hall of Fame quarterback, and it didn’t take long for the internet to take notice. While Elliott quickly removed the comment, screenshots had already spread across social media, igniting debates over whether his words were just playful banter or a genuine reflection of how most of the Pittsburgh fanbase felt about adding Rodgers.
Rodgers’ Reputation and the Steelers’ Culture
So, does Rodgers fit what Pittsburgh needs? Realistically, he doesn’t. Pittsburgh’s front office has committed to a fresh start at quarterback, and adding Rodgers — who is nearing the end of his career — would go against everything they’re trying to do. That could be why Elliott reacted so strongly to the rumors.
Also, Pittsburgh has long prided itself on a no-nonsense, team-first mentality under Tomlin. Rodgers’ arrival would bring a media circus unlike anything the Steelers have dealt with in years. His leadership style has been polarizing, to say the least, with some former teammates praising his confidence and football IQ while others have hinted at him being extremely difficult to work with.
For now, the Rodgers-to-Pittsburgh rumors don’t seem to have much substance. But if nothing else, Elliott’s reaction made one thing crystal clear — not everyone in the Steelers’ locker room is interested in seeing Rodgers in black and gold.
