The NFL season concluded with Super Bowl 59 and so did ESPN’s NFL coverage of the 2024 season. Draft coverage will start up soon enough, but the on-field analysis ended when the Eagles defeated the Chiefs 40-22.
One of the network’s primary pundits is former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky. He’s been with the network since 2018 and signed off for the season on a recent ‘Get Up’ appearance following Super Bowl 59.
Dan Orlovsky Signs Off on ESPN’s ‘Get Up’ Following a Successful Season
The former quarterback was a fifth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2005 NFL Draft and played with five organizations over 12 NFL seasons. Orlovsky was a career backup who appeared in 26 games with 12 starts, seven of which came in Detroit’s winless 2008 season. He totaled 3,132 passing yards with 15 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
A memorable moment in Orlovsky’s on-field career was in that 2008 season when he ran out of his endzone for a safety. It belongs in a new version of NFL Football Follies, but the quarterback hasn’t let that stop him from becoming one of ESPN’s most trusted analysts.
He began his broadcasting career calling college football games and appearing as an analyst for ESPN’s NFL coverage. He became a regular on NFL Live in mid-2020 and a color commentator for ESPN’s No. 2 Monday Night Football broadcast team in 2022.
He went on ‘Get Up’ and ended his appearance with a heartfelt goodbye after a long season, ready for a chance to relax and unwind.

“You guys know this is the end of the season for me…I’m taking a break, won’t be on TV for a long time. I just wanted to say thank you to you guys, Stephen A., Molly, and Shannon, for a great season. Loved being with you guys, love y’all.” Plenty of NFL coverage is still needed for ESPN with the Combine coming up and the draft not far away, but Orlovsky says he’s taking a break after a long season.
He continued, “[I] never know what the future holds, but I’m taking a break…just want to say thank you. [I] appreciate you guys so much.” Orlovsky’s comments have fueled speculation about what the former quarterback will do next. ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentioned that he’s been looking into coaching and is seeing if any teams are interested.
Orlovsky recently replied to a tweet that left his future open-ended.
