As Super Bowl week rolls on, players get more opportunities to candidly discuss what their team needs to do in the offseason with a live microphone. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love got his chance in two recent interviews, during which he was asked about Green Bay’s issues at wide receiver.
The theme of this iteration of Radio Row has been recruitment pitches, and Love was pushed to talk about Tee Higgins and his former teammate Davante Adams.

Jordan Love Broadly Answers Questions About Tee Higgins, Davante Adams
The 2024 season was an interesting ride for Love, who battled through injuries to play 15 games and lead his team to a Wild Card berth. He finished the season ranked No. 13 in PFSN’s QB+ metric (78.8, C+ grade), throwing for 3,389 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
Love was a tough quarterback to figure out in 2024. When healthy, he was good without being exceptional. He had no games graded above a B and only one inside the top 50 on the year. However, he also only had one game graded below a C- despite playing through injury on multiple occasions.
Green Bay’s offense did well overall, coming in at No. 8 in PFSN’s Offense+ rankings (83.0, B grade), but the lack of a true No. 1 receiver limited them. Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, and Romeo Doubs are the top three WRs for the Packers but none of the three cracked 900 yards or scored more than six touchdowns in 2024.
Love went on ESPN and was asked if he saw any advantages to not having a No. 1 WR, saying, “I think we have … different guys that can play and do different things better than other guys. I think we have a deep receiver room, obviously, like you mentioned [tight end] Tucker Kraft.”
“If you add a really good player to a really good offense, I think the sky’s the limit.”

Green Bay had to go deep into that deep receiver room at times in 2024 as Watson and Doubs went down at different points during the season. It’s also telling that Love brought up Kraft, who was second on the team with 707 receiving yards. Kraft is a solid player but shouldn’t be relied on to be the team’s second-leading receiver.
“I think we got a lot of guys that can grow into that role. I think we’re still young, we’re still building this thing. Guys are still proving themselves,” Love said.
It’s good that the quarterback has confidence in his guys, but he arguably has to say that as the team’s leader. Other guys on the team, like Josh Jacobs, do not have to be as tight-lipped, which can ruffle feathers.

When asked if Green Bay needs to add a piece, Jacobs responded, “I think we need like three.” Jacobs went on to talk about how much he loves the young receiver room, but finished with, “I think, personally, we need a guy who’s proven to be a No. 1 WR already.”
Love finished his statement by addressing Jacobs’ comments, “Josh made those comments, and I always ride for my guys, I love the guys we have. I always say, if you add good players to an already good offense, you can make it a better team.”
Both guys acknowledged the young receivers have potential, but Love went about it differently than Jacobs.
Love responded to a follow-up question about Higgins, saying, “Tee’s a phenomenal player. I know Tee pretty well. Like I said, if you add a really good player to a really good offense, you know, I think the sky’s the limit; you could take it to a pretty cool place.”
That was a diplomatic way of answering a leading question, but that wasn’t the last star receiver Love discussed. He went on “Up & Adams” and talked about his former teammate.
Do the Packers need to add a bonafide no. 1 WR for Jordan Love??? 🤔
Love: "It doesn't matter who we got… we'll find a way."
Kay: "What if it's a guy who has my last name?"
Love: "I'm not mad about it… Davante's my guy." 👀@heykayadams @jordan3love @packers pic.twitter.com/lxg8MHAMVz

Kay Adams asked Love how the decision to add or not add a No. 1 WR impacts the QB. “At the end of the day … I’m a competitor. It doesn’t matter who we got, you know what I mean?” Love said. “We’re going to find a way.”
Love was confident he’d find a way to make it work no matter who’s on the roster once the season starts. “That’s the beauty of the game,” Love said. “Obviously, every year it’s new teams, faces change, you got a new draft class coming in. You gotta find ways with the guys you have in the building to do some great things and come together and gel.”
Teams have roster turnover every season, and the mark of a truly great team, or quarterback, is maximizing a player’s ability no matter how long they’ve been in the building.
Love knows that, but he still believes in his guys. “I love that group, they do some phenomenal things, and if we add a guy, we add a guy; if we don’t, we don’t — so we’ll see.”
Adams asked Love about bringing back his former teammate and current New York Jets wide receiver, mentioning that the receiver holds Love in the highest regard. “I’m not mad about it. Davante, that’s my guy. Obviously, I was with him for a good amount of time there in Green Bay, [Wisc.,] my first couple seasons, and I know exactly what type of player he is, and a phenomenal guy.”
Love and Adams didn’t share the field often as Aaron Rodgers was still the starter, but they still have a connection despite the years apart. When pushed about Adams’ on-field ability, Love responded, “You see it every week, the playmaking ability that he has. When I was with him, I think he might have dropped three passes in the years I saw him.
“He’s just a phenomenal receiver who creates so much separation off the line. That’s his game, killing guys off the line and making crazy catches and making big-time plays, but he’s a phenomenal receiver.”
The star receiver returned to form once he was traded to the Jets. In 11 games as a Jet, he gained 854 yards on 67 receptions with seven touchdowns. He’s still under contract in New York but could be the big name Green Bay needs to regain control of the NFC North.
