The New York Giants drafted Malik Nabers with the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. The rookie wide receiver was nearly the lone bright spot in what was a disappointing season for the franchise.
The Giants finished with a record of 3-14 and also parted ways with Daniel Jones. The NFC East team has the third overall pick in the upcoming draft and is expected to target a new quarterback. Nabers recently talked about his team’s issues at the quarterback position and came up with a solution that was well-liked by fans on social media.
Malik Nabers Gets Praised by Fans for His Ideal Plan
Nabers expressed his desire for the team to get a veteran quarterback as well if they want to draft a player at that position.
The star wide receiver believes a veteran would help the rookie in many ways and reduce the pressure on the player coming from college the franchise wants to build their team around.
Here’s how fans reacted to Nabers’ proposition for the Giants:
Maybe he should be the Giants new GM 😂

“How is he smarter than our GM?” questioned one Giants fan.
Another fan added, “This guy is going to win us the ring we thought OBJ [Odell Beckham Jr.] was going to get us.”
Alright let’s fire Schoen and give his contract to Malik I’ve seen enough https://t.co/dN9fAWbsrB

“Malik gonna be the first GM/player in NFL history,” wrote a fan.
“He’s the smartest in the whole room, give him the keys,” said another fan about Nabers.
Should just hire Malik to run the program.@Giants #NFL https://t.co/3EqOnmBs8U

The Giants will be ecstatic if they come out of the 2025 NFL Draft with either Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders. The upcoming draft class doesn’t feature multiple elite prospects at the quarterback position, so if the franchise misses out on Ward and Sanders, they might not select a quarterback with the third overall pick.
Giants fans recently recruited Matthew Stafford on social media after the Los Angeles Rams quarterback expressed uncertainty about his future with the NFC West team. Since the Rams have made Cooper Kupp available for a trade, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback could leave Los Angeles.
If that happens, the Giants should pursue Stafford as he gives them a chance to win next season and will allow the rookie quarterback enough time to learn behind the scenes. The Chiefs did a similar thing with Patrick Mahomes while Alex Smith was on the roster, and it turned out to be a successful strategy.
Giants Are Under Pressure To Maximize Nabers’ Talent
Despite underwhelming output from his team’s quarterbacks, Nabers had a sensational rookie season. He finished the season with 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns on 170 targets in 15 games.
The LSU product averaged 80.3 receiving yards per game and 11.0 yards per reception, which is quite impressive considering opposing defenses’ focus on him. Since Nabers has quickly proved to be an elite player, the Giants are under pressure not to waste his talent like they did with Saquon Barkley.
So, the Giants must show urgency in making moves to get the right quarterback. They also have to add more talent on offense so the opposition doesn’t solely focus on taking Nabers out of the game.
If results do not improve, the 2025 NFL season could be the last for the HC-GM duo of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen in New York. As a result, the upcoming offseason is crucial for the Giants to build a better team and compete.
