Former NFL QB Reveals ‘Perfect’ Fit for Cooper Kupp, Urges Team To Go All-In To Trade for Rams Star WR

With the Rams set to trade Cooper Kupp, Robert Griffin III says there’s only one “perfect” fit. Will they go all-in and add the star WR?

The NFL offseason is always full of surprises, but few expected the latest twist in Los Angeles. After years as the face of the Los Angeles Rams’ receiving corps, Cooper Kupp could be on his way out. The franchise’s future is uncertain following a heartbreaking 28-22 Divisional Round loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and now, their most reliable offensive weapon is suddenly on the trade block.

The news came as a shock. Kupp, the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl 56 MVP, has been the heartbeat of the Rams’ offense. But within hours of reports surfacing that Los Angeles would be exploring trade options, a former NFL quarterback publicly made his case for where Kupp should land next.

Robert Griffin III Wants Cooper Kupp on Washington Commanders

Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III wasted no time in suggesting what he believes is the ideal landing spot for Kupp. The ex-Washington star took to Twitter, urging his former team to pursue the All-Pro receiver.

“The Washington Commanders should trade for Cooper Kupp. Owns the middle of the field. Moves the chains. Quarterbacks’ best friend. Perfect for Jayden Daniels going into year 2 with Scary Terry’s Speed on the outside.”

From a football standpoint, it makes sense. Kupp thrives in the short-to-intermediate passing game, creating separation with elite route-running and instincts. Pairing him with Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels would give Washington an elite security blanket while allowing Terry McLaurin to stretch defenses vertically. It would be a dream scenario for any developing quarterback.

Washington finished sixth in PFN’s Offense+ metric without a second star in the receiving corps. Adding a reliable talent like Kupp helps change the math in Daniels’ favor,

But Griffin’s tweet wasn’t just speculation — it came mere hours after Kupp himself confirmed the Rams’ plans to trade him.

Cooper Kupp Addresses Trade News With Emotional Statement

Shortly after rumors began circulating, Kupp released a heartfelt statement addressing his future. While he made it clear that he never wanted to leave Los Angeles, he acknowledged the reality of the situation.

“I was informed that the team will be seeking a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA.

“Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember.

“I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us.

“2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys… But coming for it all.”

Kupp’s message quickly gained attention, with the original tweet generating over 13 million views within six hours of being posted. His commitment to the Rams was never in doubt, but as he acknowledged, the NFL is a business.

Now, after eight seasons in Los Angeles, he will be preparing to suit up for a new team in 2025.
