What Did Shedeur Sanders Say About His Future Madden Rating?

Sanders made clear that his rating was most likely going to be dependent on what the group of people making the decisions think of him.

“It depends who, it depends who’s doing the Madden ratings. Is it going to be someone that just, you know, people that just hate for fun, or is it going to be somebody that’s actually logical. So, we’ll see whenever it’s time,” Sanders outlined.

Madden is the popular NFL video game that features all 32 NFL teams, as well as the players from each organization. Before the 2024 season, EA Sports releases the ratings for each player, something that has become a topic of conversation in anticipation of each season, even among players. The highest-rated QB in the game this past year uponwas release was Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.

What Could Sanders’ Madden Rating Potentially Look Like?

Sanders projects to be one of the top quarterbacks off the board in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. He had a great campaign with the Buffaloes this past season, something that resulted in both individual and team success in the process. However, it is rare for rookie players, especially quarterbacks, to ever boast strong and high Madden ratings as a debutant.

Considering rookies are yet to play a snap at the NFL level when the original ratings are released, it is not surprising that first-year players do not generally have the most impressive ratings or statistics, given that their ratings will increase (or decrease) as the season progresses.

In 2024, the top three rookie quarterback ratings went to the Chicago BearsCaleb Williams (the highest rated with a 76 overall) followed by the Washington CommandersJayden Daniels and the New England PatriotsDrake Maye, both with a 74 overall rating.

As a result, a realistic rating for Sanders would most likely be around the same range as those quarterbacks from last year.
