Jason Kelce Drops 8-Word Reaction as Andy Reid Says Travis Kelce Could Be a ‘Good Football Coach’

Legendary Eagles center Jason Kelce might have teased at his future in reaction to Andy Reid's praise for his brother, Travis Kelce.

Legendary offensive lineman and Philadelphia Eagles icon Jason Kelce is now on the sidelines after dutifully serving as the literal centerpiece of Philly’s offensive line for 13 seasons. Still, he remains engaged with the team as they prepare to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59.

Of course, Travis Kelce, Jason’s brother, is preparing for that game on the other side. He and the Chiefs hope to become the first team in NFL history to three-peat as Super Bowl champions.

As rumors of retirement surround Travis ahead of the big game, his coach, Andy Reid, offered comments that will have fans wondering about the Kelce brothers’ future in the NFL.

Jason Kelce Offers To Join Travis Kelce’s Hypothetical Coaching Staff

As they talked about the Super Bowl matchup on their podcast “New Heights,” a comment made by Reid elicited some noteworthy talk of the future.

Jason took to X (formerly known as Twitter) after the episode aired to expound on the “Coach Travis” hype train, offering his services as a potential offensive line coach for whatever team his brother took over.

Having the two brothers share the same sideline would make for quite an offensive coaching combo, as the pair currently have four Super Bowl rings and 10 first-team All-Pro nods between them.

Furthermore, Super Bowl champion and two-time first-team All-Pro tackle Andrew Whitworth threw his hat in the hypothetical coaching ring, offering to pick up some equipment room duty for the team. It’s safe to say that the Chiefs TE would be captaining one of the league’s best (and most energetic) coaching staffs.

    Will Travis Kelce Retire?

Of course, the Chiefs star will need to leave his current day job first, which he is pretty good at, to be available for a head coaching gig.

Kelce has been one of the best tight ends in football for over a decade, and he’s earned Pro Bowl nods every season since 2015.

After seven consecutive 1,000+-yard campaigns from 2016-22, Kelce has taken a slight step back in recent years, compiling 93 receptions for 984 yards and five touchdowns in 2023 before logging 97 catches for 823 yards and three touchdowns this season.

Nevertheless, Kelce has routinely shown up when it matters most, dominating the opposition in the postseason. He led the Chiefs in receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns during their back-to-back championship runs in 2022 and 2023, and he’s currently running a combined 9/136/1 receiving line through two games in this year’s playoffs.

Of course, at 35 years old, he’s closer to the end of his career than the beginning. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made some comments earlier in the team’s playoff run that will surely give fans pause about Kelce’s future.

“I have no idea,” Mahomes said regarding his thoughts on Kelce potentially retiring. “He hasn’t said anything to me if he’s thinking that. Either way, I just appreciate every single time I step on the field with that guy, knowing he’s a true legend of not only the Chiefs but the NFL. If it’s his last game, let’s go out there and get him a win. If it’s not his last game, let’s go out and win anyway, huh?”

Kelce and the Chiefs will again prepare for a battle against the Eagles in the Super Bowl. After, though, what path he takes next is anyone’s guess.
