Shedeur Sanders finally opened up on his father, Deion Sanders' expectations as he and Coach Prime prepare fot the 2025 NFL Draft.

Coach Prime has been quite vocal about his son Shedeur Sanders and his potential NFL landing spot. He wants the best team to pick the Colorado Buffaloes QB and for him to carve his own legacy; it’s natural for any dad to feel the same for their kids.

Although Coach Prime’s frequent involvement in his son’s future has caught criticism, the Colorado QB has continued to ignore these distractions and openly called out haters. He has opened up about what his dad wants from him and the expectations that are already set.

Shedeur Sanders Throws Light on Dad Coach Prime’s Expectations

It has been a long journey for Deion and his son, Shedeur, over the last couple of years. From Jackson, Miss., to Boulder, Colo., the duo has been pivotal in transforming college football programs.

The Prime Time effect was pretty evident at both schools, where the former Super Bowl champ led the program (Jackson State) to multiple SWAC championships and helped Colorado reach a postseason bowl game for the first time since 2020.

Similarly, he also developed his son to be NFL-ready, and this season plenty of players from Colorado will be taking their skills to the next level. Heisman winner Travis Hunter happens to be a prime example of this notion.

On Thursday, Jan. 30, the NFL Draft prospect spoke about his dad’s aspirations for him: “Dad’s expectation of me was just ‘Be the best I could be,’ you know?” He mentioned the pressure that he had to sustain the Sanders legacy.

“So, that was Dad’s expectation of me. After that, it just fell into place, you know. Like, of course, that was always my dreams and my aspirations when it came to things, but it just happened that way. It wasn’t like it was a dream or anything. I didn’t really dream about, ‘Oh, I want to go first round,’ it was like, ‘Nah, I want to be the best out there, the best quarterback.’ So that comes with it.

“So when you focus on everything and doing it the right way, just things remind you on the way that you’re doing the right thing. You’re staying positive, and things are working in your favor, and you’re getting closer to your goal. So that’s just how things play out whenever you strive to be the best you could be,” he added.

Sanders is expected to be a top-five pick, with the Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns, or the New Giants considered potential landing spots at the top of the NFL Draft order. The future looks extremely bright for the emerging QB prospect.
