Former NFL Scout Believes Giants Drafting Shedeur Sanders Would Be a ‘Catastrophic Organizational Decision’

Former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly has a bold assessment of Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly believes that the New York Giants drafting quarterback Shedeur Sanders would be a “catastrophic organizational decision.” Kelly replied to a video on the social media platform X where Sanders hinted at becoming the next quarterback of the Giants franchise.

Sanders is widely expected to be selected in the top 10 — various teams are in need of a long-term answer at quarterback. Sanders and Miami Hurricanes QB Cam Ward are likely to be the top two quarterbacks selected come April.

    Daniel Kelly’s Shedeur Sanders Assessment

A video posted on X showed Sanders hinting at becoming the next QB of the Giants.

“Shedeur Sanders just hinted that the #Giants will be drafting him: Sanders says he knows he will play the #Cowboys ‘very soon.’ The #Titans and the #Browns do NOT play Dallas this upcoming season. NY fans get ready for Sanders 👀,” Kleiman posted on X.

In response to this, Kelly made a bold claim regarding Sanders’ NFL prospects.

“That would be a catastrophic organizational decision for the Giants,” he stated.

Shedeur Sanders’ Future Outlook Ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

Despite Kelly’s stark words, Sanders is a top prospect who has the skills and abilities to succeed in the NFL from Day 1. He is extremely accurate, is able to throw to all levels of the field, and can perform off platform as well when needed. Furthermore, his strong football IQ allows him to easily understand defensive schemes and where the pressure is coming from.

In Pro Football Network’s recent 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Sanders was selected No. 6 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders. With Pete Carroll as the new head coach of the team and superstar tight end Brock Bowers on the offensive side of the ball, Sanders to the Raiders could be a good fit for everyone involved.

“Sin City will love Shedeur Sanders. Prime Time will not have to worry about leadership with Tom Brady (owner) being more of a presence around the Raiders.

Sanders has shown remarkable poise and passing accuracy in big moments. In others, there have been some head-scratching sacks. It is easy to see a potential franchise quarterback à la Jayden Daniels. Others will argue over some All-22 film that is more style than substance with some big Hunter highlights sprinkled in.”
