Colorado Buffaloes safety Shilo Sanders has responded to recent criticism of his performances at the East-West Shrine Bowl practices. Earlier in the week, videos began emerging of Sanders struggling during portions of practice ahead of the big game. Sanders responded to some criticism — he is not concerned what people are saying about him on social media.
Sanders explained how those trending clips did not properly outline his actual performances from this past week’s action. Though only NFL executives and scouts can verify whether these performances were up to their standards, social media does have a way to knock down individuals solely based on a few trending moments, something that possibly could be occurring with Sanders.
What Did Shilo Sanders Say About Shrine Bowl Practice Performance?
Sanders acknowledged that it was frustrating when people are constantly trying to bring you down.
He then outlined that he has a good support team around him that helps during these difficult times.
“I just care about what the scouts think. I care about what Coach Prime thinks and my family thinks. And, I got a good circle around me, so I don’t really let that stuff affect me,” Sanders stated.
College football and NFL reporter Joe Bonham posted the video on X and provided some further analysis of the interview.
“Shilo Sanders addresses the haters saying how they paint him in a bad picture ‘they do that to our president, they do it to everybody.’ He added the clips were cherry picked and says scouts will look at how he played today and this season,” Bonham said.

Shilo Sanders’ 2025 NFL Draft Projection
Though not the top prospect that his brother Shedeur is, Shilo could still be taken in the upcoming NFL Draft this April. In Pro Football Network’s recent 7-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft, Sanders was selected in the seventh round, No. 229 overall by the Carolina Panthers.
Sanders has struggled with various injuries over the past few seasons. However, he has been a strong defensive player when healthy, possessing a high football IQ. He is a strong tackler who has the ability to set the tone for his team, something he did numerous times this year with the Buffaloes.
Though it remains to be seen where Sanders is selected this April, it is clear he won’t let some trending Shrine Bowl videos negatively impact him.
