The Brian Schottenheimer era has officially started in Dallas. One of the first tasks is to hire an offensive coordinator.
As per reports, Ken Dorsey, the former offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns, is all but set to be interviewed for the position. However, the Dallas Cowboys fans have already rejected this potential hire.
Cowboys Fans Reject Brian Schottenheimer’s Choice for New Offensive Coordinator
Dorsey was hired by the Buffalo Bills in 2019 and rose through the ranks to become the offensive coordinator in 2022. However, the former quarterback was fired midway through the 2023 season. He was then hired by the Browns but once again fired as soon as the season ended in January.
ESPN’s NFL insider Jeremy Fowler took to X (formerly Twitter) to report that Dorsey is in contention for another offensive coordinator job, this time for the vacant position in Dallas.
“Cowboys are considering former Browns OC Ken Dorsey for their offensive coordinator position, per source. Interview to be determined but logistics being discussed,” he tweeted.

As soon Fowler’s tweet went live, fans were up in arms making their voices heard against Dorsey’s being given the job.
“3rd team in 3 years.. I don’t see this hire as a benefit for first-time HC,” responded one fan.
“The guy that’s been fired twice in the last 2 years?? That would be a very uninspiring hire,” tweeted a fan.

“He was sacked by Buffalo last season, then sacked by Cleveland this season. So, of course, Jerry Jones has to go get him,” added a fan.
“We were hitting on a lot of coaching hires but this? Oh hell no,” another fan added.

Schottenheimer Wants Cowboys Fans to Trust Him
As soon as Schottenheimer was projected to become the next Cowboys head coach, he faced criticisms. During his introductory press conference, the 51-year-old wanted to assure fans that he was the correct choice.
“I’ve had some opportunities when I was a much younger man, that I didn’t feel like I was ready,” Schottenheimer said. “I’m ready now. I know what I want. I know what it looks like.”
Schottenheimer started his NFL coaching career in 1997. The son of legendary head coach Marty Schottenheimer, he joined the Cowboys in 2022 under previous head coach Mike McCarthy.
Time will tell if Schottenheimer is able to rally the Cowboys back into playoff contention.
