Aaron Rodgers was the blockbuster move of the 2023 offseason. The New York Jets brought the legendary quarterback to end their playoff woes.
However, that was not the case, and the team is going through a rebuilding phase. The former NFL cornerback-turned-analyst Domonique Foxworth advised the Jets to forget about Rodgers.
Domonique Foxworth Wants the Jets To Get Past Aaron Rodgers
The Jets are in a new era with Aaron Glenn as the head coach and Darren Mougey as general manager. Many have been wondering whether Rodgers will find a place for himself in the rebuild/reload.
Owner Woody Johnson has deflected all the responsibilities to his new HC. However, during his appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up,” Foxworth advised Glenn to not consider the 41-year-old for the future.
“No. It’s plain and simple to me that you balance what Aaron Rodgers brings on the field with what he brings off the field,” said Foxworth.
“And it seems like his talent on the field is as good as it was towards the end of the season. It doesn’t make up for the fact that it feels like the team kind of fell apart under his watch. Coaches have had to go. Players are threatening that they won’t come back. It feels like a bad situation.”
Rodgers ended the season with 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns to his name. The four-time NFL MVP was intercepted 11 times as well during this tumultuous season.
Glenn Makes His Feelings Clear on Rodgers’ Future
One of the biggest tasks for Glenn will be deciding the future of superstars like Rodgers and Davante Adams. Glenn has already started on his job of figuring out Rodgers’ role in the franchise.
“We’ve already texted Aaron,” Glenn said to the press. “We’re going to sit there and watch every game tape there is. And then we’re gonna look at the whole roster.”
“This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers, folks. This is about the roster. And we plan on building the best roster that we can.”
