The 2025 NFL Draft is shaping up to be potentially franchise-altering for several teams. Whether it is finding a true difference-maker to get over the hump or hoping to find a franchise quarterback, April is bound to leave its fingerprints on the coming seasons.
One name that’s been in the national eye and drawn a ton of scrutiny is Colorado Buffaloes quarterback and son of the legendary Deion Sanders, Shedeur Sanders. With projections going as high as the No. 1 overall pick and as much criticism as praise, Sanders has been a tough player to gauge.
However, the first reports from Tennessee Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi are helping fans feel better about the quarterback.
Tennessee Titans GM Mike Borgonzi Is All Praise for Shedeur Sanders
Before the Shrine Bowl, reports emerged about Sanders not participating in the activities and instead engaging only in interviews with prospective teams. Naturally, eyebrows were raised and there was a ton of skepticism.
Still, teams and fans alike were intrigued about the potential first-rounder and franchise quarterback and Borgonzi got his first swipe at the Buffaloes superstar. Coming out of the interview, the Titans GM was all praise for the quarterback, taking note of his impeccable intangibles.
“I really enjoyed talking to him. He’s a smart, engaging, confident kid. We had a great conversation with him. It wasn’t that long as the first opportunity we had to really sit down and talk with him. This is a process so looking forward to talking again.”

The Titans are among the teams atop the list of those in desperate need of a quarterback. In 2024, they supported the 27th-ranked offense, according to PFN’s Offense+ metric, despite a nice season from running back Tony Pollard.
It came down to their passing production where both Mason Rudolph and Will Levis struggled mightily. While Rudolph finished 26th on PFN’s QB+ metric, Levis was even worse, coming in at 34th.
Thus, if Borgonzi sees the upside in Sanders, he could become Tennessee’s pick of the litter as it strives for stability with the No. 1 pick.
Shedeur Sanders Scouting Report
For many, the quarterback is the top passer available in the upcoming NFL Draft. His scouting report generally considers him as the most accurate, reliable, and NFL-ready quarterback in the class, complete with the ability to operate full-field reads and manipulate the middle of the field.
Even though Sanders doesn’t have the athletic upside of others, his mobility is underrated. And despite playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in college football, the Colorado quarterback’s pocket navigation is impressive, setting him up to potentially start from the jump as a rookie.
While some question his overall arm strength, he generates enough velocity to check the box and is exceptionally accurate.
Going further, Sanders’ processing, a trait honed across years of starting experience at the collegiate level, is also a relative strength. Sanders can operate pre-snap, recognize defensive looks, adjust protections, and progress through reads post-snap — and he’s a measured decision-maker who protects the ball more often than not.
