Ohio State HC Ryan Day Declares His Pick for the Super Bowl 59 Showdown

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day gave his Super Bowl prediction while appearing on "The Tonight Show."

Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day gave his pick for Super Bowl 59 earlier this week. While appearing on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Day was asked to give his thoughts on the outcome of the highly anticipated contest. Day detailed how, though his head was siding with the Kansas City Chiefs, his connection to Philadelphia was making him to choose and fly with the Eagles.

Day recently won the college football National Championship with the Buckeyes after the program defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Jan. 20.

Ryan Day’s Super Bowl 59 Prediction

Day made clear that his mind was telling him that the Chiefs would win the game.

“Yeah, so my brain tells me the Chiefs,” he stated.

However, he continued by outlining his connection to the city of Philadelphia and why, as a result, he would be rooting for the Eagles in the big game.

“But, I’m sitting here right now in front of The Roots. And, our quarterback is from Philly, Will Howard, so I’m going with the Eagles,” Day added.

    Super Bowl 59 Preview

This year’s contest will be a rematch of Super Bowl LVII, one where the Chiefs triumphed over the Eagles by a score of 38-35. However, both teams look markedly different from that game and have taken unique paths to get to this year’s Super Bowl.

The Chiefs still have legendary quarterback Patrick Mahomes and generational tight end Travis Kelce leading their offense, however, they have added rookie Xavier Worthy and veteran DeAndre Hopkins as well. On the defensive side of the ball, the Chiefs have been led by George Karlaftis and Chris Jones, who have combined for 13 sacks on the year.

Meanwhile, the Eagles’ offensive approach has changed drastically since that last Super Bowl matchup.

Though the offense still features Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Geodert, the Eagles are now led by superstar running back Saquon Barkley. Barkley has been amazing since arriving in Philly and has 442 rushing yards and five touchdowns in three playoff games so far this season.

The Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills to win the AFC Championship this year while the Eagles won against the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Washington Commanders to get to the final game.

Super Bowl 59 takes place on Feb. 9, 2025 from the Caesars Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints.
